My hair is very long, almost down to my waist. I have a few interviews coming up and cannot find much information on the internet about how to style very long hair.

I know I am not going to leave it down because it will just be all over the place.
I was thinking low bun, or possible just a plain old pony tail.

Thoughts and/or suggestions?

Also, clear nail polish and short nails fine?

Thanks!

The bun will definitely work! If you're looking for other options, have you thought of a Dutch or side braid? Both are sleek and professional. Personally, I would go without the polish but you should be fine with the clear polish.

We have girls who wear their hair down and styled for their SP encounters all the time. It’s really what you’d be comfortable with. I prefer half up to be out of my face but I also live in ponytails. Sometimes I braid depending on my mood. As long as your hair looks clean and neat and you’re not constantly trying to adjust it, you should be fine.

I would say a low bun, which is usually considered to be more professional/conservative than a ponytail. For nail polish, I personally am a fan of muted neutrals (taupe is what I wore to all of my interviews), but clear/no polish would be fine as long as your nails are clean and well groomed.

Disclaimer: not a dudette!

A classmate of mine was stressing because she has very long red hair and she said she was having to put her hair up into a bun in order to look professional. I heard other girls recommend a "bubble bun" or something? Hope that helps.

While I now have short hair, I used to have very long hair (down to my butt) and it is necessary to tie it back in a medical professional setting. A few months ago I overheard a couple of residents complaining about an intern with long hair who let it hang during newborn exams. "I mean, it was all over the baby! It was so gross!" So, if it were me, I'd demonstrate that I'm not opposed to tying my hair back by tying it back during the interview. As for the style, whatever you are comfortable with, as long as it is classy. My buns were always so big (PHRASING!) that they'd look weird and fall apart after a while. One of a myriad of reasons why I have a bob now.
