Hello all,

I have some very specific questions about entering coursework in AMCAS. I apologize for how specific they are. I understand that very few may know the answer to this, especially considering a call to AMCAS was not very fruitful, but I thought I would try! By the way, I am a long-time lurker, and I finally made an account to ask these questions since I do not know where else to go.

I have attached two screenshots from a section of my official transcript, freshman fall semester. The section of the transcript is Test Credit.

#1) If you look at Screenshot 1 below, you can see that I have two line items for BIOL-E 112. I know that I received 6 credits, 3 for BIOL-E 111 and 3 for BIOL-E 112, with my AP Biology score. However, I do not know what the second BIOL-E 112 came from. I think that it came from my biology placement exam upon entering my university. How the heck would I enter that into AMCAS?

#2) In Screenshot 1, you can also see three line items for ENG-W 131EX. This carries 0 credit hours, but fulfills my university's general education English composition requirement. I know that my AP Literature score earned me at least one of those exemptions, but I do not know where the other two came from. Plus, I don't even know if I am supposed to list these credits? Do I list all three separately?

#3) Same as #2 above, but for MATH-M 199EX. I know that I took a math entry exam, but I don't know how those results translated to my zero-credit exemptions. I have no clue why there are 5 of them either. I took the AP Calculus BC exam in high school and received the two 4-credit courses listed below these exemptions (MATH-M 211 and MATH-M 212, see Screenshot 2), so maybe they're related?

#4) In Screenshot 2, I have two line items of PHYS-UN 100. Even though they're the exact same on my transcript, I believe they're the result of two different AP exams: Physics 1 and Physics 2. So I should still list them twice? For the Course name, I could put in parentheses which AP exam they came from?

#5) In Screenshot 1, you can see that I received AP credit for CHEM-C 117. Also during my freshman year, I took CHEM-S 117, which is an honors version of CHEM-C 117. Would CHEM-S 117 be considered a repeat?

Thanks in advance, I know how specific and granular these questions are.

All answers can be found in the free, easily downloadable applicant guide; all page numbers refer to below
AMCAS APPLICANT GUIDE 2020

If this came from via credit by examination, it is listed as AP which is used for all special course type (see page 31)
If the following course types appear on your official transcript, they should be indicated as AP on the
AMCAS application even if they are not technically Advanced Placement

List them all on AMCAS EXACTLY as they are on transcript (see page 26

When entering coursework, you must include information and corresponding grades for every course
you have ever enrolled in at any U.S., U.S. territorial, or Canadian postsecondary institution, regardless
of whether you earned credit.

you must enter courses in chronological order
exactly as they appear on the official transcript of the school where you originally attempted them.

(see page 26) Entering incorrect information (e.g., omitting coursework, grades, and/or credits or supplying incorrect grades) may affect your AMCAS GPAs and could result in delayed processing and even missed deadlines

List them all on AMCAS EXACTLY as they are on transcript

List them all on AMCAS EXACTLY as they are on transcript. Add (AP Physics I) and (AP Physics II) (see page 30-31)

Yes, mark BOTH the AP and the actual course as repeats (see page 33)

If you take a college-level course for which you already have been granted AP credit by the same
institution, AMCAS considers the course a Repeat. For example, if you received AP credit for your
AP Psychology course and took an Introduction to Psychology course at the same undergraduate
institution, you should list Introduction to Psychology as a Repeat.

Thank you, my friend! I had indeed consulted the guide, and I still had these questions due to a bit of discrepancy with my situations and those cited in the guide. But now I see that I had simply not read some of the pages as in-depth as I should have. In regards to the repeat of my chemistry class, they technically have different course number because of the honors designation, making it CHEM-S 117 instead of CHEM-C 117. But the course name is the same, except for the word “honors” in one of the names. You still think they’re repeats? Just wanted to confirm, since this situation isn’t explicitly stated in the guide.

I guess this is all based on my understanding of the ideology of “repeat.” Because for example I have a transferred credit from high school that counts as BIOL-L 112 (which I am not listing in my home university course work, but I wonder if it should still be considered in the repeat consideration), a BIOL-H 111 credit taken at my home university (which actually fulfills BIOL-L 112 degree requirement), and my AP exam granted credit for BIOL-E 112. The course numbers are different (slightly), the course names differ, but they all fulfill the same biology degree requirement and they all seem to be intricately linked.
