I just received one (my first) acceptance from XSOM last night and the email is unclear but says I have 5 days to CTE and withdraw from other schools' waitlists. This seems extremely short given that my top choice school hasn't even given me a decision yet and I am deferred there. I want to stay on the waitlists to see about financial aid, etc. before I make a decision but I don't want to lose my spot at XSOM. Do you have any advice at all for me on how to navigate this

I was in the same situation. I reached out to the school to see if they could extend the deadline but they weren't willing. It's really not fair that schools are asking waitlisted students to CTE so quickly. We should be able to PTE like other, originally admitted applicants and keep our waitlists until the posted CTE deadline. Unfortunately, there's not much one can do. Congrats on your acceptance!

Congrats on your acceptance. Was in a similar position, just got my A today and have CTE deadline of 5PM tonight lol. Had to withdrawal from my other W.

I suggest you politely and respectfully ask for an extension.

How interesting. I wonder why they behave this way? There must be a reason.

At this point, I imagine they have a number of primary admit students that have PTE.

I don't understand what motive there might be to push early WL movement aside from (maybe) filling a less competitive institution's class while there is still a healthy WL pool in play (banking on opportunity cost)? I almost never hear about admissions logic this far out in the process.

Or is the hope that WL movement goes faster by giving little turn around time, hoping those that aren't interested would just say so upfront instead of holding the seat hostage?
