Hey Everybody,
Maybe someone would have an explanation for this. I have received interview invites from UCONN, UCSF, Harvard, Nova, and Case. For some reason the lower stat schools like BU and Tufts haven't sent me anything besides a notice that my application is under review. Any ideas?
I also havent heard from Stoney Brook and Columbia but that's reasonable I guess.

I got invites from stony brook and columbia but also not BU or Tufts. I agree its weird but sometimes there is no real system I guess

schools have different preferences as to what they look for in an applicant.. it's not just all numbers.. so i think the position you're in is perfectly reasonable..
and since you have a lot of interviews under your belt, don't worry so much and go have some fun before you start school next fall! 😛

Alot of it has to do with the different timelines different adcoms work on

I've heard from other threads on this forum that some schools sometimes don't give interviews to "over-qualified" applicants because they would end up going elsewhere anyway. No idea if this is true, but it kind of makes sense...

i think this is true, this happened to me too

I doubt it.. Then why do some "overqualified" applicants get interviews from everywhere while other "overqualified" applicants don't? Make sure you have submitted all the required documents. If you have, you will def get interviews from the lower tier D schools.

I have the same thing. I havent heard from BU Tufts or Pitt yet.

I am in the exact same position - BU, Tufts, and VCU are the only schools I haven't heard from but I had 5 other interviews...maybe we will get interviews after Dec. 1?

I can tell you one thing about Tufts. If your GPA is above 3.5 and your DAT is at least 20, AND you are from Mass. you are getting an interview no matter what. Tufts is not all numbers either. Don't think just because you're a 4.0 and 21+ DAT you should be getting an interview from Tufts. They actually take the time to look at your whole application, unlike somewhere like NOVA where they filter based on GPA.

yea, i haven't heard from pitt yet, and i find that very strange. i even grew up in pennsylvania and went to penn state. weird. ill take my 7 interviews elsewhere.

Arent your first statement and your second statement contrdictory. Is it that 3.5+, 20+, Mass resident=guaranteed interview, or is it not all the numbers. Besides I doubt that are more selective than penn or harvard. I dont get it.

Sorry, the first statement basically says, mass resident and above average is a guarenteed interview. Key word, mass resident. I know the website says this and that, but it doesn't mean anything.

Second statement, they do look at your overall application. Yes penn is selective, and so is tufts. Many people with high stats get rejected from penn and scratch their head.

I'm in that position right now. I interviewed at Harvard, UF, UCSF, Pacific, Michigan and declined an interview at USC. Other than that, I just heard from Tufts last week. Also, I just got invited to Detroit Mercy but I'm from Michigan so that's probably why. Other than that I'm assuming I'm overqualified because I haven't heard from BU, Marquette, Nova or Illinois (which is still just doing in-state). Until I received invites from Tufts and Detroit Mercy I was kinda scared because I had no back up schools. I guess this is the ONLY downside of having great stats. Oh, except I haven't gotten an interview at UCLA which is a bummer. 🙁

I dont think this is so true. Schools want the best students they can get and maybe you would rather be in a cheaper school or a local school or a place with good weather.... whatever your reason may be you might pick a school that you appear "over qualified" for since it is best for you and the schools know it is not all about ranking better schools and want the best students they can get

Yeah I wish BU and Tufts would have contacted me pre-Dec. I would have loved to visit Boston for a few days.

My stats are definitely not that exceptional.
3.8 GPA, 21 DAT and some decent experience.

I dunno.. maybe the school doesn't think you're a good fit for them based on other things you said on the application.. after the first gpa/dat selection, a lot of schools do seem to take time to read the applications..

Who know man. They're just being weird. that's the only comment people say about doctors or dentists.
