Hi I applied to University of Arizona Tuscon, Phoenix, and Scottsdale Mayo Medical and received secondaries to all of them. I wasn't really expecting to get into medical school this round (ehich is why I only applied to 3) and I'm surprised medical schools bothered with my application at all. Which makes me wonder, are secondaries something that you're almost guaranteed to receive upon applying, or does getting a secondary mean you actually have a somehwhat competitive application? If anyone has a very rough estimate of what percentage of students DON'T get a secondary upon applying to a medical school, that would be great.

Most schools send secondaries to everyone who submits a primary. Only a few schools actually screen before sending out a Secondary. UCLA for example has a heavy screen and only about half receive Secondary applications.

Oh so it usually doesn't mean anything. Well do you know if Mayo Medical screens? It took them about a week to get back to me about my secondary.

Mayo screens, about 2/3 of applicants get secondaries.

May I ask where you got this information from? Just curious, since I didn't see any information about it on their website and was wondering where I would find more information like this.
