Hey guys, I'm a Google girl. I started to organize this into a Google Sheets. Feel free to add to this - I'll update as I go through vet school over the next few years. If I have any teacher resources, I'll add them (I'll do a study tab too so if you have resources that help you study in general you can add those, i.e. quizlet, kahoot, quizizz, etc.)

For those of you who are visual, you should try out the site, below. It is essentially visual bookmarks that you can organize and keep on your bookmark bar for easy access instead of rummaging through threads or links. It is reallllly useful as a teacher. We used it for our students to help them visually organize their resources when they needed to study.

Edit: Actually, if we get a decent amount going, I'm happy to make a "SDN Resource" Google Site for easy access if that's something we would find useful.

A while back I created a resources page on our blog that includes not only study resources but also valuable links for financial and well being education for anyone interested. Not sure if it's allowed to put the direct link here, but you can find it on the veterinary blog thread.
 
Do any of you have a favorite resource for brain nerves and thoracic cavity nerves? I am struggling so hard to learn these.

CSU anatomy is pretty good for that. They took it offline, but you can buy a copy for $30. I liked it so much, I bought it for myself for review. You can always check YouTube! It saved me in comparative anatomy, but I know there’s detailed videos out there somewhere

Like for vet school? Does not exist... most questions are designed with a clinical perception so can be worded a wide variety of ways to test knowledge. If you're lucky might have previous exams floating around somewhere depending on your school or if profs are nice.

Eta: you can sign up for vet prep for daily navle prep questions

I liked using Quizlet cards in test form - you can have it make you an exam in whatever format you want, and that's how I studied for the entirety of my didactic curriculum for most subjects (some really didn't translate to flash cards well and so I had to find alternate study methods for those). I had >32,000 cards made over 5 semesters of material and for me, that was consistently the best way for me to study.

YES! The thing about me making questions is I remember the answers, and then it doesn't help. One of my classmates usually makes quizlets but for this exam they didn't so I'm literally searching the web for practice questions and nothing. Med students have tons though! -_-

Sit down with a classmate and quiz each other verbally. That’s what worked best for me consistently throughout vet school, although never before had I been a group study kind of person.

Sorry in advance about some of the theriogenology set titles. You can tell how much sleep I'd had based on how silly the titles get.

Therio - All things semen for the budding veterinarian who would rather not see so many dick pics at 8am but we can't always get what we want (exam 1) - probably the worst one

Bumping this thread for anyone looking for extra resources while dealing with online classes!

Also for myself, does anyone have a particular YouTube channel you'd recommend for surgery videos? My remaining rotations are soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. K-State is it sounds like one of the few schools still having students come in for clinics, but between the reduced caseload and PPE shortages I probably won't get to scrub in very much. I don't plan on doing much ortho stuff myself, so not as sad about that one.

What type of surgical skills? Our school has an online website thing for our surgical skills course I can send you. It's not great, but they do have a lot of videos and descriptions (for several types of procedures/surgeries).

I'm interested in videos of basically any common surgeries (other than spay/neuter, luckily I got some good experience with that before this all started. I feel bad for my classmates who had shelter med coming up, our mobile unit isn't going out anymore), e.g. splenectomies, enterotomies/R&A, GDV, amputations, etc. I know there are a ton of videos out there on YouTube, but wasn't sure if there was a specific source that's particularly good!

Armando Hasudnagan on Youtube. He has tons of videos but when I was studying for my path boards I thought they were very well done. Thorough but not too crazy detailed...like it wasn't quite detailed enough for me as a pathology resident but a good level for students, imo.

Hey!

Does anyone have any good apps, websites or suggestions as to how to increase knowledge of veterinary medicine? I was supposed to work and volunteer in different clinics this summer, but so far I haven’t heard anything from them. I want to keep learning about vet med though! I’m mostly looking for case simulators, cause I like interactive stuff and I have some vet med books I read already. But, any suggestions would be super helpful.

Definitely relevant during clinical year, but I think I used it in some of my large animal courses before then as well.
