My husband is a vet tech and the vets that work there work with a veterinary ophthalmologist sometimes! He went to vet school, I don't remember what all else he did but that's what he does now. I had to take my cat in for an eye infection and they used the tonopen on her, and did direct for a second. it was cute, (and EXPENSIVE) lol. He has a veterinary eye exam book in his office.. I think it's kind of interesting!
I know there are specialist vet ophthals but I can't say I've seen dogs with glasses. Most owners who care enough to take their pets to the vet usually get eye surgery done. But definitely lol at dogs with glasses.

Graduate vet school, do a general small animal internship in medicine/surgery, then do a 2-3 year ophthamology residency, then get board certified. Pretty rare in the past, but a growing specialty (and a high paying one too). I've heard of a few equine ophthamologists too.
No optometrists though....interesting concept!

Umm... I should let the cat out of the bag. Sometimes sarcasm doesn't convey well over the internet.
Yes, it was intended as such. I got the images from here:
"Animals with glasses" image search on Google
Veterinary ophthalmology obviously exists.
Is there a need for veterinary optometry?
