Hi!

I'm new to this forum and like many of you, trying to figure out my rank list. I was wondering if anyone could offer their opinions on any/all of these following programs: UMass, UConn, Baystate, Dartmouth? Thanks and good luck to everyone!

I didn't interview at Baystate, UConn or UMass but can speak on Dartmouth. I think that overall this program is very impressive if you are looking for a smaller program and plan to go into gen Ob/gyn. I really enjoyed all of the residents and felt that the faculty seemed VERY supportive, specifically I really liked their new chair. I also thought that the away rotation at Nashua was actually pretty cool as none of the residents seemed to complain about it and it seemed as if you were able to really stand on your own and learn how to make critical decisions there. But, all that being said I am probably ranking them on the lower side since they do not have any fellowships, night float and their program is much smaller then I would want. Also, while Hanover is beautiful and there are moose abound 😉 the area is a little too rural for me.

Just my 2 cents.

Oh I just remembered they also have that cool MPH program that you can do as a resident with just I think one extra year?? I also remember them having pretty cool lap training tools.

I actually didn't interview at any of these programs, but one of the OB/Gyn residents that I worked with went to UMass for medical school. He told me that it is an awesome program and you will learn great clinical skills, especially since there are no fellows, so you get to operate your fingers off if you want. But he was interested in going into a Gyn Onc fellowhsip and didn't think that staying there would have offered him the best opportunities for that.

I am a resident at UConn and I really enjoy our program. The program offers excellent clinical expeirence, is university based, and we have three fellowships (Urogyn, MFM, and REI). The attendings are all nice and the atmosphere is great. Everybody works the same hours and we rarely work 80hrs/wk. The Hartford area is not as much fun as say NYC or Boston, but offers enough cultural activities for most. Also, ceratinly enough pathology. Feel free to email me if you have any spcific questions.
