Virginia OBG programs

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am at Carilion in Roanoke. Interviewed at EVMS as well. I don't know much about Richmond, but given my experience with Riverside, EVMS, and UVa, I can tell you that I am very happy here, and have absolutely no regrets about picking Carilion out of that bunch.

About the only thing appealing to me with EVMS was living in VA beach. And, about the only thing appealing to me with UVa was the town as well. Roanoke is a decent little town, but too far from the beach....other than that, this place is pretty perfect.

PM me for any details, if you think I can help

Why are you not considering UVA? By far it is the best program in Virginia. You would be able to better apply to fellowship coming from UVA. Charlottesville is a MUCH better place to spend four years than in Va. beach or Richmond... ask anybody

I didn't say I wasn't considering UVA. I just don't have any questions about the program at UVA, I am already familiar with it.

Well, excuse me, Ms. know it all...

EVMS is primary care heaven... by all means go there... make the CEOs of insurance companies millions and milllions more (that's what they want... more slaves for their machine)... Go where "non traditional" students go... translation: married 30+ year olds, eeking by... hoping to land a 100K job as a generalist...

If you were so "familiar" with UVA you wouldn't look elsewhere in VA... just shows your ignorance... but I guess you know it all.. as a medical student

Uva? Puhlease....while it may have the best "name" in VA (for now), it is certainly not know to be the strongest of programs....numbers are weak, for sure.

UVa would not be on my list at all. If I wanted a program like that, for fellowship reasons, I would get the heck out of Va.

And, BTW, EVMS has an incredible REI program, which is quite the lucrative little sub specialty.

While UVA is a great name doesn't mean that it's the best program. Just like the assumption that everyone thinks all programs at Johns Hopkins are great...but if you look at the rannking some of the residency programs barely make it into the top 15. I dont think that the OP is ignorant for not considering UVA...i think you're more ignorant for your statements that followed.
