It'll be okay, friends. Just try to stay busy in the meantime so you aren't dwelling on it and driving yourself mad.
do the match results populate in your email? or do you have to check VIRMP?
This is a super helpful resource. Thanks for sharing. I was wondering if (on 2 March) the scramble open program list is only accessible via your institution's VIRMP administrator as mentioned in this article? Is it published on 2 March anywhere else by chance (i.e. the VIRMP website)?I've linked an article that is a little older now, but I think most of the advice still stands. The terribly emotional moment of not matching is awful, so take a beat, but then keep moving. I recommend making sure that you have at least one mentor/reference who can support you that day - emotionally, but also in trying to get a position. Make sure they know when match day is (presumably they do as they are very involved in things, but some specialists are surprisingly detached from the match) and let them know of your intent to scramble it if comes down to it. Call/text them first thing in the morning and let them know the scenario. Ideally they may have some connections or be able to make supportive calls for you that may help in the scramble.
It's a stressful and emotionally draining time, but lots of people have found success in the scramble and matched to great positions so it definitely works out well for some.

You have to log in on VIRMP. I don't believe they send an email at the time that results are available (I can't find one in my inbox from last year, at least).do the match results populate in your email? or do you have to check VIRMP?
Did anybody get an interest email after interviewing with Friendship? Also, is it common for VIRMP applicants to match to their top 1-3 ranks for rotating internships? I feel like I have heard of a lot of applicants that have matched to one of their top choices, but I assume this just depends on how competitive the programs that you rank are?
The programs get this list on match day. It is available on the website without an account a few weeks later -- March 16 this year.I was wondering if (on 2 March) the scramble open program list is only accessible via your institution's VIRMP administrator as mentioned in this article? Most of the Tier 1 applicants (applying for up to 10 positions) match with their top 2 choices (intern) or top choice (resident). This is based on last year's data.
That goes down for Tier 2 (11-20 positions) and Tier 3 (21+) applicants. This correlation does NOT mean that applying for more positions makes you less likely to match to your top choice. Rather, it's more likely that applicants who assess their application as being weaker than average apply to more positions ... and that there self assessment is accurate.

as a foreign candidate I know I am not a Tier 1 applicant but for cardiology residencies there were only 8 places available to sponsor visas (actually fewer due to rule changes), so I just applied for these and hoping for the best. Although, the waiting is really making me anxiousMost of the Tier 1 applicants (applying for up to 10 positions) match with their top 2 choices (intern) or top choice (resident). Applicants and programs who participated can each see the lists of open spots/unmatched applicants on match day through the VIRMP website. The unfilled position list then goes public a few weeks later. How do people send emails if they don't know which institutions have spots?
You can also search for a specific program and at the top of their information page it should say something like "x out of x positions available". At least that's how it was when I went through Match back in 2018-19 and 2019-20.How do people send emails if they don't know which institutions have spots?
Just FYI, Friendship is the program that sent out very seemingly sincere interest emails to possibly every applicant they had in my year so I am not surprised that they might do it every year. They also even sent some type of 'congrats on matching elsewhere' email my year on match day (or sometime that week idr) which was interestingDid anybody get an interest email after interviewing with Friendship?
Ah that is good to know, thank you! My understanding is that Friendship is one of the most competitive private practice internships, so trying not go get my hopes up. I didn't get any communication from them after my interview.Just FYI, Friendship is the program that sent out very seemingly sincere interest emails to possibly every applicant they had in my year so I am not surprised that they might do it every year. I'd check with classmates who may have applied this year (or if anyone on here wants to chime in) because my info is from 2019!Ah that is good to know, thank you! I was super confused with the 'congrats' email they sent me, thinking it meant they ranked me highly and followed up on where I matched because programs can look that up right away if they want to. I later found out that several of my classmates got both the interest and congrats emails. Can't say I understand the point of those being sent, especially the congrats email

Also side discussion - Friendship is one of the more well known hospitals, but did you speak with current interns before ranking?
I know I'm late to respond. I applied to a few VCAs and received an interest email from three of those. A friend applied to two of those same VCAs I heard back from, and did not get the email from either.Did anyone receive interest emails from friendship, Blue pearl, or VCA?
I think from what I recall, you just log in and it should take you to your account dashboard and right on your dashboard will have listed your location right on the screen or at this time it will tell you if you unfortunately did not match and you make your next steps from there!I’m sure I’ll figure it out on the day, but just wanted to check if there’s any specific area to look at on match day? Like if I have the VIRMP login page up and go in right on time, will it pop up automatically?

8 am EST on the dot. What time do results normally come out?
I am a current friendship intern and I did not receive an interest email before match last year, so even if you didn't get an interest email doesn't mean you don't have a chance.Did anybody get an interest email after interviewing with Friendship? Matched at Ohio State!
Congrats everyone! And to those who don’t get as good of news, good luck in the scramble or with whatever your chosen plan B is!
But also don’t feel pressure to decide your life’s plan B today if things don’t feel right…things will work out for you!

I know at least 1 of your internmates and she's great!Matched at Ohio State!
Godspeed to all the scramblers. Scrambling was arguably the best thing that ever happened to me and my career, so trust that it's not all bad!
Can I DM you?Godspeed to all the scramblers. Scrambling was arguably the best thing that ever happened to me and my career, so trust that it's not all bad!
Sure!Can I DM you?
Unfortunately didn’t match this morning so I scrambled! Verbally agreed to a highly recognized program 20 minutes later so that was a wild ride
The Withdrawal Regulations on the website say this: “If a program was filled outside the VIRMP, the institution/private practice must provide the VIRMP with the name of the person to whom the position was offered. The VIRMP Director, in consultation with the AAVC Executive Committee, will determine if the reason for withdrawal is acceptable. If the reason for withdrawal is deemed acceptable, no sanction will be imposed.” which suggests to me that yes, the three year ban would likely be in effect because I don’t think general regrets would be considered acceptable. But I don’t know that for certain, that’s just how I interpret the website. If I accepted an internship through the scramble over the phone, would you also get black listed if you call again and back out? I am having MASSIVE regrets!!
