visine and clear eyes

I've heard that these drops that "get the red out" are not good for your eyes. Is this true? I really like using them because they work so well.

It's bad and doesn't work for the long term. It's better to determine why your eyes are red and irritated: allergies, dry eyes, infection, contact lens over wear, etc...

Visine works by constricting the vessles on the conjunctiva; however, the problem is that there is a reflexive hyperemia when the medication wears off. The eye will be even more red and irritated after the med wears off in an hour or so. This is why Visine is the medication that requires you to keep on using to keep your eyes clear.
