Hey guys I am a final year medical student from Australia
and I got accepted to one month elective at

Dxstic radiology at Harvard

and

Neuroradiology +MRI at Weill Cornell

and I can't decide.
I thought New york would be nice
but Harvard also sounds nice.

at the same time I don't want to stress out during my elective.
Do you think Harvard would be really stressful??
apparently they will assess me and stuff..

Please help me to make right decision

Firstly get this information clearly whether your Harvard professor will give you an LOR (important for applying for residency) or not, because from what I know, they only provide with you an evaluation form or something (I might be wrong).

Secondly determine which place is more likely to give you an interview call when (and if) you apply for residency. IMO Weill Cornell>Harvard (as from my knowledge regarding the situation with IMGs & FMGs)

About stressing out - Dude! you have to be your best self during your rotation, so yeah some decent amount of stress will be there.

I agree, don't stress...it's a good problem to have.

Which Harvard hospital for dx radiology (BID, MGH, BWH)? For the most part, those rotations should be just fine...and I don't think there would be a problem getting a letter of rec, but yeah, look into that.

I don't usually resort to emoticons, but

Radiology at MGH is intense, don't know about other Harvard hospitals but in general they are pretty tough on the students. If you've never been to NYC before, I'd lean towards Cornell just because NY rocks.

hey guys thanks heaps for the replies!!!

I am just worried that I might not know anything as I am not a brilliant student over here and I also heard US med schools are very intense.

I am using my holiday to go over there so don't want to just stress out and burn out. maybe I am too australianised (quite laid back)...
I do have some thoughts of going to US and sitting USMLE in future but not like "I MUST GO TO US"

cornell is asking me to pay them $2000,
Harvard is asking $3500,
and I have older brother in New York, studying at Columbia University..

I thought it was the norm to pay this much in US
but just realised recently Mount Sinai only costs $400 or something..

I still can't decide. I better decide by this week!!!

oh yeah I wasn't thinking of reference...

and Harvard radiology is apparently at BWH, DFCI, CHMC

The vast majority of US programs do not charge anything near those prices. Most charge what Sinai does or less (I would venture that Sinai's charge is the top end of "normal").
