VMCAS application

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i tried 'www.vmcas.org' and its opened fine. Maybe they just hadnt officially opened it when you tried, but it should be up now

Silly question, but do we have to make a new user name if we're applying again?

The VMCAS application for 2013 matriculation is now officially OPEN! Go to www.aavmc.org, and navigate to the VMCAS web page. DO NOT go directly to the portal.vmcas.org site or you will miss IMPORTANT updates.

Good Luck!

It's open now. 😀

Yes.. a new application must be created every cycle.

Good luck guys!

Why are "Analytical" and "Writing" different sections on the GRE test results section of the app? The test section is "Analytical Writing!"

EDIT: That question was pretty much rhetorical. This one isn't: Do I need to put a GPA for the school where I took summer classes in the Explanation Statement?

Yeah, I am wondering about this too. I went to a different school many moons ago, so do I put that GPA in the Explanation Statement?

Student Reported GPA:
If you have attended multiple colleges, list the GPA for your primary college. "Primary" indicates whether the selected institution from which you earned your undergraduate or bachelor's degree, or the most credits, or completed the majority of your prerequisites.

GPA's from other colleges should be listed in the explanation statement.

I'm listing a geology class and soil science class in my courses. Thoughts on what category they belong in? None of the above I'd guess?

Electives?

I had the same question about where nutrition and microbiology would go...biology, animal sciences, or none of the above?

Maybe this is a similar question... do I really need to record and get transcripts on EVERY class I ever took? E.g. I took 1 piano class at a community college in like 1995. And I took 2 horticulture classes at another community college in 1996. And Spanish at a different community college in... I don't know when! You think I need to dig up all that stuff? Or just leave it out?

**EDIT** The answer, per VMCAS FAQs is yes--list every class ever. Sigh.

👍 Yep

If I took a summer course through a college different than my own do I have to list that college as an institution that I attended and then add it to my course list? I'm just getting confused with all of these random transfer credits! Thanks!!

Yes, a separate school. Non-degree/no degree planned for the options.

This might seem like a trivial thing but it may or may not be a problem. I just noticed I accidentally listed an abbreviation for an ochem class as CH instead of CHE!

What's the right thing to do at this point?

Don't worry about it. No one else will notice if you don't bring I up! I saw a made a much bigger error if that makes you feel better!

Not gonna matter.

I had a weird typo in a supplemental essay, lol.

Oh, a word of advice: DON'T READ YOUR PS OR SUPPLEMENTALS NOW. You probably will find a typo or something. But you can't do anything about it. So just don't even look.

This. Or you'll just realize how awful they are...

On another note... Now the waiting begins. Enjoy. I know I didn't.

Hahaha thanks for the advice! Never thought about it but it's probably very true.
