Greetings, SDN community:

Just figured I would let my fellow applicants know that I received an official email from VMCAS today stating the following:

"Thank you for contacting VMCAS. You may include unpublished research in the
Research Experiences section of your application. If your experience could fall
under more than one category, just use your best judgment in deciding what
field to put it in. Keep in mind that each experience should only be listed
once. Do not list one experience in two separate categories."

Also, the instructions for the 'Research' section of the VMCAS application has been updated to state the following:

"Research should include any research and/or publications, including veterinary research as well as any research experiences in other fields."

This instruction is completely different than the guidance VMCAS gave when the application officially opened on June 5th. I now have to reorganize my application to accommodate the change. This direction is more appropriate, I just wish that the VMCAS powers that be had made up their mind before the application had opened.

As an aside, when I called VMCAS about a week ago, I was explicitly told NOT to include unpublished research in the 'Research' section of the application. Frustrating.

omg thank you so much for letting us know. 🙂 i had originally put it in the research section... 'cause i did do research. but after reading that VMCAS told you only published work should be in the research section... i changed it to community/employment (since i got paid though under the work study program). but i think i'd much prefer the research section.
