I am a second year graduate student (MS in Biology - CVD focus). Planning to begin volunteering this upcoming winter. As an undergrad I was able to accumulate ~300 hours by volunteering at a senior living facility. This past year I put in ~100 hours volunteering at a local Habitat For Humanity Store. I know that this is unrelated to the medical field. I just wanted to volunteer some of my time to a different cause. I had a lot of fun doing it and met some wonderful people.
I would like to know what some of you have to say about "optimal" places to gain some patient-care experience while volunteering. Obviously a hospital or clinic, but do some of you know of any other locations? Environments?
