I have been looking for volunteer work, and around here it is pretty slim. I mean you can volunteer to work at the food bank, and the homes - just visiting with the older folks.. I would like visiting with the people, but I really have a passion for helping people and the enviroment. I wish i could find a youth councling center or something... the YMCA here says they just dont have a need for that kind of person right now.. 😕 but I was looking up other volunteer work that involves recyling, and we recyle paper at our school, but we could do more.. I emailed someone and gave me a site on how to get grants to start non-profit chapters.. it seems like a lot of work, and I dont want to get in over my head but I would really love to do it.. has anyone done anything like this before? Do you think its too much to handle?

I have been on a mission trip with my church when I was 13, and I helped feed the homeless on sundays along with a small workship like church service at a family friends restraunt for a few years til the family moved and sold the place.. that was when I was til I was 15, I really miss doing things like that. I loved it, but I cant find good places that would be able to mark my volunteer hours... I have thought about going to talk to some of the abused women and the womens shelter try to help them with a plan to excell in life and get out with an education. I was in a abusive relationship for 3 years and it felt impossiable to leave, I had no one to go to and I have children with the jerk. I feel like I could really help women start over but I dont know if it would be weird to go do that on my own or how they would react, what do you guys think?
