Volunteering at a Mosque

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For all future applicants: I applied with more than 1000 hours of volunteering at a local mosque. I received many interviews and received multiple acceptances. When interviewers asked me about what I did, I explained and I included terms such as “Ramadan” and I did use the word “Mosque”. Do not get discouraged, definitely add it to the list.

Doesn’t matter what faith you are, if you volunteered at your respected place of worship I would highly encourage you to add it to the list. Dental school admissions committees won’t rejected you for your faith. Most dental schools want class sizes to be diverse, and whatever faith you practice could be exactly the diverse background they are looking for.

^^ I agree
I mentioned a lot of religious stuff as well as being involved with the
Youth group at my mosque Got accepted to a few places.

The school that I'm about to attend has a huge Middle Eastern, Persian, Pakistani, and Muslim body. I also think one of the school's admissions officers tends to favor those applicants due to the current (and also IMO unjustified) discrimination, assuming their grades, DAT, and community service hours suffice. PM me if you want more details.

Hi there, I tried to PM you but I couldn't. Would you be able to PM? I have some questions for you. Thank you for your time.
