I have a few questions:

Lets say I volunteer at 3 different hospitals throughout undergrad, would I put those hours in 1 whole chunk, or spread them out on different slots out of the 15 slots? If it is 1 slot, will there be room to reference all 3 and include time span for all 3?

Another question, what constitutes an EC activity? I play sports every weekend on campus, but I am not on an official team, so would this be worth mentioning?

Last question: I volunteer at a soup kitchen, the kids shelter, and other nonclinical activities. Would these nonclinical activities count as 1 whole slot out of the 15? or can I mention each one as their own thing?

Thanks, also what are some good EC's some of you might have included in terms of casual fun/ sports, not in terms of clinical and nonclinical volunteering.

All of your activities should be listed separately if they were with different organizations. If the three hospitals were in the same system, I guess you could list them in one block (i.e. St. Francis Volunteering instead of St. Francis East, St. Francis North, and St. Francis Central) and specify that it took place in multiple hospitals.

In the Work/Activities section, you can clarify if an activity is volunteering, paid work, a hobby, etc. You can find more about it here. I will say that the thread is from 2011 and so some info may be a bit out of date, but it's mostly good.

And good non-volunteer ECs are just things that you are passionate about. I like to think of it like, would you be able to talk about it in interviews and show genuine interest in the activity? For instance, I've played the violin since I was 10, so that was a good EC for me, but it probably won't be for others. Just find something that you enjoy.
