So although I have some idea of what podiatry is like, I know that there is still a lot that i don't know. So for the past two weeks, I've been trying to contact a podiatrist to shadow and this process is a bit harder than i hoped for. Initially, i thought it should be real easy since I was told all i have to do is go through the mentor link on the aacpm.org website but it seems like that part of the site isn't functional anymore. Hence, I've contacted several podiatrists around my city via email and none have responded except for one, and although she felt like her practice wasn't the best place for me to shadow she was EXTREMELY nice and went on to right two paragraphs and told me to call her if i ever had any questions. So as you guessed, my question is, how did u guys go about shadowing a podiatrist?

I would call the office or visit them directly to ask about shadowing. An email is easier to ignore. I called several podiatrists in my area and they were usually very friendly. It might help to offer a copy of your resume as well.
Good luck!

You need to call them. I called about five different places and had two pods get back to me. Just get a phone book and start going down the list until you find someone. Just explain your situation (i.e. "I'm interested in Pod, a student, want to see what pod is like, etc.) and you should find someone willing to let you come in.

Yea i guess I was being a bit lazy by trying to contact them via email, thanks for sharing your experiences though.

Email worked for me... but I don't know if that's because I live in a big city or I was just lucky. I used the AACPM website actually. You'll find one! Also keep in mind that it is harder at hospitals due to HIPAA

Any easy way to find a Podiatrist to shadow is to call your General Practitioner and ask if (s)he knows a podiatrist in the area. Most of the time they will have personal contacts and can set you up.😎

👍 This one worked for me.
