I am a senior, I am taking (16 units enrolled)an upper level BCPM class for my last semester b/c I thought it was going to be "easy" and it's graded literally midterm = 50% and Final = 50% of grade. I just had my midterm, which wasn't impossibly hard, but for some reason, my mind went completely blank during the exam 🙁 Like I did not even pull an all-nighter, it just decided to turn off. So I think I might have bombed it (maybe like a B-) and although the class is "curved" I don't expect it will help much.

My GPA is on a small upward trend (freshman yr = 3.42 GPA) cGPA = 3.61 and sGPA = 3.63. I really don't want to slip back down to a 3.5 range and if I get a B in this class (which is likely if I bomb this midterm) I think my cGPA will be at the very best a c3.60 or most likely 3.58-3.59 for sGPA assuming I get an A in my other 3 classes (questionable b/c one class is hard. Other two are easy). If I take a W, and get all As in my other three classes, I think my cGPA will be ~3.63

So I'm debating, should I do badly on this test, should I withdraw and graduate with a ~3.62-3.63 cGPA & sGPA or should I take a B (worst case scenario) and graduating w/a ~3.58-3.59 ?

I looked around, and I see a lot say "one W is nothing" and alot of others say "Take the B/W will hurt you/don't take W" 🙁

Take the B.

it's true that it's not a big deal to have a W or two, but in your case I would take the B over a W. most of the people I know who have W's it was from a class they had a C or below in, or if there was some unusual life circumstance where they had to withdraw (example: a friend of mine had a family crisis and had W's from that time period)

Try taking some easy classes to boost your gpa if you take the B.

Yeah I dunno why I'm really mad that my brain just decided to shut off during the test....it doesn't normally happen....like at all. Which sux because I remember everything NOW after the test >___<

It's my last semester. I was considering taking some postbac classes like Spanish b/c I want to learn it and also it could boost my GPA but that's not something I am considering seriously (yet).

If I do REALLY bad on this test like C or below, I think I'll drop it....what do you guys think? 🙁

I would see how your grade is on this test and try not to worry about it too much for now. There were classes I was sure my grade wouldn't pull out in and by some lucky circumstance like a generous curve on the final and it turned out ok. No sense in worry yourself needlessly!

If you are really concerned and still want to think it over, I noticed that on a lot more secondaries there were specific questions asking you to explain Ws and none asking about Bs. Both GPAs that you posted can get you into medical school; hang in there!

Don't go below 3.6
