Hi everyone, for those of you hired by walgreens the past 2 years or so. From my understanding full time status means working 30 + hours a week in order to keep full time status and benefits. So 40 hours is not guaranteed unless they need you. From my understanding all pharmacists by wags are hired this way. My question is if your hired as full time status can they give you even less than 30 hours required for full time status?

If you work for wags in cali please give me your input.

Don't know about Cali, but in Indiana they've started hiring at 32 hours a week guaranteed. However, if you land a staff/pharmacy manager position, you'll get 40 hours a week.

This is in line with the hiring going on in cali. Thanks this info helps a lot...

Can you tell me is the pay between PIC and staff or floater positions significantly different? also take into consideration bonus compensation

thanks again.

WELL....you have to remember that I work in the Midwest, where the cost of living is, oh, about 1/4 of California...lol.

Staff pharmacists make about 115k in my neck of the woods, with pharmacy managers making in the neighborhood of 125k. Staff pharmacist get a $1000-to $1500 dollar bonus depending on the store, with the manager getting a bonus about 3-4 times higher than the staff pharmacist. Again, bonuses are highly variable among stores, I'm merely using the store I used to work at as an example.

I just started in July, but I'm not licensed yet, so I'm not entirely sure how it works. The other floaters seem to be getting 32 hours/wk, but I'll probably be poaching from their hours once I'm licensed. You can also volunteer to work out of area and get mileage and housing if they need you. They've had a couple people come up here to fill shifts for 1 week that way. I'd have to update you once I'm licensed and know a little more from my own experience.
I'm in Rural NorCal if it matters.

Thanks for the replies. Its good to know that pharmacy managers get to make a little more for dealing with more work. You would think its would be that way everywhere, but its not. One more reason to lean towards wags on my part 😉

I will let you all know if/when I am part of the team my wags friends 😀

Just curious where do you know of a place where the staff pharmacist makes more than the P.I.C?

I won't name names, but I am currently between two job offers, and from my understanding the pay is not SIGNIFICANTLY different between PIC and staff/floater pharmacist. There was never mention of the staff/floater pharmacists making more $ so not sure what u mean... $1 or $2 more per hour to deal with PIC related issues is considered similar in pay to me when compared to other positions plus if the bonus was not too different either. Again, you may feel free to disagree with my reasoning, but its how i c things friends.

hey friends, just wanted to let you know, i'm officially a wags r.ph. thanks again for the advise.
