I got two secondaries so far. However, one of my letter writers have not turned in the letter yet. He said he will turn it in by this week. Is it too late to wait another week or just go with five letters that I already have?

Also, is using letters that are dated 2006 outdated? I am a re-applicant. thanks

Well first of all, you usually don't have to turn in your LOR's with the rest of your secondary application. You can send them separately. It might be a good idea to send the rest of your secondary application back if it's been longer than two weeks already since you received it. Otherwise, you can wait if you think the new LOR will be an asset to your application. Also, some schools limit the number of letters that you can send.

Oh, and it is fine to reuse LORs from last year if you feel confident that they say only good things about you. It might be good if at least one of them is new or updated, however.

thanks, but hopefully I get off the waitlist 🙂

As a related question to to this thread, I'm assuming that for electronic secondaries that are online there's no obligation to send it in within a certain window of time after you access it right? i.e. if I opened an account with an online secondary last night will med schools actually care if I submit the thing by mid july rather than next week? I hope not...
