 Well, I am one of those students that went against EVERYTHING the medical schools "advised" you to do. Organic came in my senior year (but I'm taking 5years), I am taking the MCAT for the first time in august...(I had to do all of these things because of my time spent as a student athlete, which I am unhappily reporting as over) :(
Anyhow...my dilema.
I read that schools "advise" that we obtain and review our MCAT scores before completing the AMCAS form. Well, applications start as early as June as you all know and my application will already be held until those scores come in ...delaying my application even longer and waisting VALUABLE time!! So what do I do?? Should I wait until I get my scores to apply? Can I apply before I take the test? How long will my application take to process if I wait until late august early september to apply?? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

In general, it is a good idea to send out the AMCAS ASAP, even without your MCAT scores because most schools work on a rolling admissions basis. If you really want to apply this year, you are going to have to send your AMCAS anyways so why not do it early. This way schools will only be waiting for your MCAT scores in October to decide whether or not to interview you. Waiting for your scores puts you further behind because it will take at least 4-6 weeks for your AMCAS to be processed and say 1-2 weeks for schools to send you a secondary application, thats 5-7 weeks added to the time they would have to wait if they just had to wait for your MCAT scores. This does not even include the time it takes for all your letters to be submitted, which can take a while depending on the pre-med committee at your university. In other words, a big portion of appllicants will have interviewed before admissions committees will even have had a chance to look at your application.

Did not mean to scare you with all this, but this is why I would send the AMCAS out on June 7 or whatever the first day to submit is.
