Hi Everyone,

Im wishing to apply to a summer program at Mt. Sinai. From my understanding, application are reviewed on a rolling basis.

My problem is, I am a sophomore with a good first semester (~3.9 GPA) and a very hard second semester (~3.2) ending with 3.52. Wondering if its better to apply now or at the end of the application period after hopefully another stellar semester and a 3.66 cGPA.

Also may have another publication in this time period

What program is this? What are the requirements? Is it a research program?

There's really no way to know if this is a good idea to wait or not. See if there is a process where you can apply now and update the application during the cycle

This is a summer research program (sinai Flexgrad/SURP) with a secondary part that allows you to gain guaranteed admission to MD/PhD if accepted. 3.5 GPA requirement (prefers 3.7) and 6 months research experience. I have a year of basic research already and 3 months of clinical (at this institution) with a guaranteed rec letter from someone with a pretty big name at this hospital.

Gotcha. I would look up if there is a thread regarding that specific program and see how their rolling admissions work. I still think your best bet might be to apply soon and then try to update them during the cycle with your grades/publications. If the program is anything like medical school admissions, then waiting until December/January (when your semester grades would be in) to apply would be waiting far too long.
