Waiting For My Mailman

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got my UCD acceptance last Tuesday. I was away from home, my mom received the package, she didn't know what it is so she left it there for a week. Until today, I came home and opened the package. $4000 deposit due April 30th, gee, that's a lot of money!!!

My apology, I had a typo error, to mean UCD, I actually meant TCD acceptance, sorry guys!!!

may 15, i hope that will be a day of celebration for me.

Anyone else almost giving up? Day after day of not seeing the FedEx man has got my spirits waaaay down 🙁. Am I the only one losing hope?

Hey!
As far as I know UCD is not accepting anymore.
I emailed ABP and they said a stack of rejections are coming next week and he hasn't heard news on any more acceptances!😡

Goodluck to you all!!! Wish me luck too😳

Has anybody heard any news on Galway? I haven't received a rejection from them yet so just wondering if anyone knew anything.
I got my Galway rejection by e-mail last week.

Okay, 2 Questions:

1. Did you email ABP about UCC? If so, what did they say?

2. Well, what about the waitlist? Does that mean that everyone who does not have an acceptance should be expecting a rejection?

Thanks Brownie1989 for the update...even if it wasn't such great news.😉

Good luck to everyone who is applying and awaiting word.

Yeah I am.... I figure I will withdraw my app next month. There is just no way to have my stuff done (finding someone to manage my company, selling my house, etc.) to move by September--so one less on the waitlist for all you who can move in a heartbeat! So, I guess I'll be reapplying to Ireland in September--this time wicked early!

Good luck to all and see some of ya next cycle! I'm done posting this year.

NO! You must not give up. I know you have your company / house to deal with but you might as well keep your application active and see if you can figure something out even if it's last minute.

Applying early doesn't mean earlier acceptance.
I applied really early with what I believe to be good stats and still, no response from anywhere so far.

Hang in there, don't withdrawal!

So...no one's gotten that UCD rejection yet?

nop

we're all either rejected or put on reserve ( but with this many students on reserve, you might as well consider yourself rejected ).

who's waiting out for May 15 as well ???

i'm having trouble sleeping everything just thinking about that
acceptance/rejection email on the morning of that day.

Just got a rejection from Cork via Email today...Thought I'd let all you guys know what's up! Fingers crossed for Canada or Australia...my hope is pretty much all gone for Ireland.

Same here, rejections from Galway and Cork... Good luck to you guys who are still waiting!!

... thanks for giving us an update, and i hope your other alternative route(s) will work out.

looks like another wave of rejections is starting to wash up.

I'll third the above - both Cork and Galway have sent me letters of regret as they call them. Only RCSI and UCD are left for me and I'm not too hopeful for these anymore. I think I have decent stats as well - Cork explained that this year there was an extraordinary number of applicants and many with very strong files. Perhaps it was a difficult year...

Sorry to hear that Rugby, Coccinelle, and Redlan. I think it was about four days ago that I completely lost hope for Ireland too 🙁. Oh well, maybe something better will happen for us next time around.

I decided against UCD, and the deadline was yesterday so I will keep my fingers crossed for you guys. I really hope that spot goes to one of you. Good Luck!!!

Hey guys, there still might be hope from Ireland. Today I got an interview offer from the Atlantic Bridge Program for the University of Limerick.

University of Limerick? That wasn't on the ABP list when I applied, did you apply for it specifically?

I believe they just recently opened their GEP program to north american applicants... apparently 15 spots for 2008 entry.
I was sent an email a couple weeks ago by Mr Keenan asking if i wanted my application forwarded to Limerick... i then heard back at the beginning of this week inviting me to interview in toronoto on May 17/18...

im still on the fence as to whether this is a good option for a Canadian....
I know that medical curriculums in Ireland are pretty nationalized... but this past year was their first intake for their brand new school of medicine...

Really, dont give up at this point. Last year I didn't hear a thing until late July. No mention of waitlists etc, until an acceptance came from from Trinity in July.
Spending months agonizing last year just showed me that no news is defininately good news with the abp.

Hi Folks,

I am not a regular on SDN, but have developed a bond with my fellow comrads. So I thought I should share this one.

It's official: I've been rejected from RCSI, TCD, UCC. I didnt apply to Galway and UCD (may be I should've, but they might have rejected me as well)

Anyways....best of luck to all of yous.

Plan B: DO in USA.....vs. .....MB/BS in UK??? Leorl gave me great advice...but still want to hear other thoughts. Please PM or post away.

thx

gmacpac - sorry to hear that. Have you considered the Caribbean? SABA, St. Georges, and Ross have something like a 99% match rate into competitive residencies in the U.S. as well as in Canada now (i.e. not only family practice). Check out the lists of their matches on their websites - they speak for themselves.
Spice it up and apply next year...

thanks for your words of encouragement.

I got an acceptance into a UK program and a DO program....so I will probably go to one of these. I really wanted to go to Ireland though....it's all good. I'm thankful that I have an acceptance somewhere.

Does anyone know if Trinity or Galway have issued their second round of offers yet?

i think they're all done their rounds of offers.

I just got rejections from UCD and RCSI. Anyone hear anything from RCSI-Bahrain?

hi there,

i would call RCSI-MUB directly, places even become available in late August and early September at RCSI-MUB, once they see how many students have taken up offers.................

I got my RCSI rejection in the mail today as well, now I just have to hear back from UCD....damn Ireland, I really hope Canada or Australia works out for me!

So I just opened my email and saw a message that said something like "You have a package contact us: fedexcourier [email protected]" and so I had a heart attack :scared:.

But it asked me for a lot of money and had bad grammar and had a phone number with a Nigerian country code (please don't get mad at me, I have nothing against Nigerian people, I know that most Nigerians are nice and don't send these emails).

My heart is still trying to calm down from that false alarm 🙁.

Thanks sucks! Ya some of my best friends are Nigerian but it is common knowledge now that a LOT of scams like that one are coming out of Nigeria...it's just a fact.

Well got my last rejection letter from Ireland...UCD, snail mail. Now I'm really hoping for Canada/Australia!

As an American, I could be really offended by this but it's probably true in most cases. However, there are some of us who went to really great, hard institutions... one where I went has the slogan "Where fun goes to die!" so I'm not writing myself off yet as competition for all you canucks!

I went to the same college you went Arsenal lol, and I'm pretty certain our school is harder than UofT (I have a close cousin in UofT). I'm thinking of Irish schools too. We play the cards we have, right?

wow really!!!!! thats so perfect...i m from uoft and its so true..its BAD here. i have this one course ..where the class avg is a bit high (low 70s) and literally EVERYONE in biology knows abt it, cuz its so frikkin rare.
well now, back to biochemistry assignment..cheers
Hahaha, I know which one you're talking about. I think. I'm just bummed out about me being largely destroyed these last 2 years...but I'm glad Irish schools understand that being destroyed in Immunology is...well quite normal. Aceing it does mean you're god though. :-/

Anyway, that does give me some hope. Something I have been lacking for the past year or so.

Has anybody heard anything from the Trinity front recently(acceptance or rejection)? It seems like only UCD and RCSI have been active recently...Trinity has gone awfully quiet...I hope they haven't closed their doors yet.

good news for those who're still waiting for UCD.

unless i win the lottery in the next 3 weeks, i can't find $350k to go.

i feel like ripping myself up into pieces. i've been wanting to study in ireland since high school, it was a dream then and it's still a dream now.

there'll be a spot opened up for you guys.
good luck everyone.

OMG!!!! Torontonerd you made me the happiest woman today 🙂 I actualy for the first time in 2 years felt like I have a chance somewhere.

I really hope someone answers me 'i feel a tad ignored on this forum, I know I'm new and youb all git accepted and are happy....but some encouragement would be nice 😛

I have a bachelor's (GPA: 3.1) and a master's (GPA: 3.47) and my MCAT is 28M. I am hoping to get into UCD or Trinity......!!!! If I do, lolz....I guess we shall all meet 😛

Yes--I heard from ABP about Trinity last week--Trinity requested me to send updated transcripts to verify my graduation...(Since last ones they received were from a year+ ago). They also said that more offers will be given end of July...I am sooo ready to get an answer though...:-S AHHH!!!
