I've been put on the waiting list for UCD. Is anyone else in the same situation?

i believe i am in the same situation, according to ABP, my application is being held "on reserve". i am assuming that means a waitlist.
i originally thought i was rejected from UCD, but it was actually TCD that rejected me 😕

ah well i am still waiting to hear whether i have been put on reserve for UCC as well

good luck

cheers
Ali

Don't loose hope guys, a lot of people were accepted by UCD and UCC all summer - even in August and September. Disgustingly late, I know but they have so many rounds of offers. I think I got my offer in July but I hadn't written the MCAT until that April and they were waiting for my scores in June.

From what I've heard and can tell, if you're on a waitlist you're probably getting in eventually. The only problem is you only have about 2 days to decide when you get accepted to one of the schools you're waitlisted for so you can't really hold out for another without risking it.

onhold doesn't mean you are rejected, means they are working on the previus first round application and since you might have applied later, you are on hold.

I know it sucks that you have to wait to c where u will end up going. Just be patient and keep your fingers crossed.

How did you find out that you were placed on the waiting list? Did they send you something in the mail or did you contact ABP?

Thanks

I contacted ABP and was told that my application was on reserve and that I could get an offer anytime between now and september

Thanks for the info.

For those of you on the wait list did you have to pay a deposit to other schools in case? Did UCC/ UCD make you pay a deposit? Just cuious, thanks

Entered RCSI in fall 01, and it was about 1900 irish punts (at the time would have been around 2200 euro)

Mine was 3000 last year.

it's about $4,200 American

Hi NIQ
I see that you started your program at RCSI in 2001. There are so many mixed messages and views on RCSI, so I have to ask you, was it worth it?

See the 4 page RCSI thread for more info although a lot of it is bull**** with people that don't go there.

I'm 50/50 on my decision right now. I'm happy here since I have a pretty close group of friends and since I am one of the later years that got in I haven't faced any of the problems that a lot of the other earlier students were complaining about in that thread. I'm very happy with my clinical experience and for the most part the pre-clinical courses.

But at the same time I've done a lot of independant study for boards, and pretty much did all the work setting up all my electives and research and so on.

If you can think for yourself and you are proactive enough to do things for yourself then RCSI isn't a bad decision, if you expect to be spoonfed and have everything done for you then I wouldn't recommend RCSI as its not in their interest to cater to every student invididually.

I am also on reserve for UCD.

I was wondering how large a pool of reserves there actually is and if, as it is said in one of these threads, admission is likely if you are on it or are many people rejected towards the end. I did not make it into any of the other three schools and likely have a borderline GPA and MCAT (30) and am trying to decide what my chances are to aid in decision making for next fall. I am 31 and am starting to feel like I need to make this work or find something else.

For any of you who were accepted late, did you have your financing in place just in case or was it a panic to make it happen. I can most likely cover a down payment quickly but the full amount may take me a short while. How desperate is it?

Also for any one at UCD, how is the program? It looks as if there is a new curriculum. Guinea Pig time?

Thanks for any feed back...

Just wondering if anyone has recieved any news about their "on reserve" status?

Any responses to my previous questions...

Thanks,

Just out of curiosity... does the situation ever arise, where you're put off a waiting list? I imagine they'd let you know, if that did happen. And if you are on a waiting list, do most schools have a website where you can check your status? Often its annoying to call up admissions; they transfer you or give you false info, or put you on hold.

dont let the ucd wait list thing get you down.....i didn't get accepted until june 23, 2003...ahh almost my 2nd anniversary...but seriously, the irish are very slow and disorganized (no offense to any irish on here but let's call a spade a spade). all hope is not lost!

Has anybody heard any news regarding their reserve status?

Thanks

I'm still on reserve, but I also applied in late April. I would imagine my name is fairly low on the list.

I just received my acceptance to UCD this week.

Good Luck to everyone.

I would like to exchange emails with other student attending school there this fall.
