Hello! I am not planning to apply this upcoming cycle but rather the 2021-2022 cycle. I believe my app will check all of the boxes but I believe my weakest area will be clinical experience. my shadowing hours should be ideal at approximately 150 hours, but my actual clinical volunteering will likely be around 200 hours unless I change something or volunteering in the Alzheimer's unit of a rehabilitative nursing home counts? I was planning to count it as non-clinical volunteering since I am not directly working with physicians.

I will work to address this as much as possible once the coronavirus dies down, and attempt to get as much exposure as possible. However, in the case my projection remains accurate, would it be better to apply with the 200 hours in June or with 425 hours (225 from a summer program) in mid august? I also know that there is some method to list future experiences, so please let me know if that would be an advisable route.

Clinical volunteering is anything involving unpaid work in a medical setting where you interact with patients. You don't need to work directly with doctors.

~100 hours of shadowing is more than enough and ~200 hours of clinical volunteering is more than enough. As stated previously, patient interaction = clinical. You don’t need to be working alongside a physician but the setting does have to be medical so there should a physician or nurses or someone to that effect supervising even if you’re not working directly with them.

No, don’t delay your cycle for that. I would advise applying early and then sending in an update in October or later assuming you’ve accumulated more than 200 hours in this new experience. The only downside is not all schools accept updates but many do. Downside to applying late is you’re late in the game when you don’t really need to be because you already have enough hours.
