Hey everyone,

I got accepted to a few schools, but ultimately got waitlisted at my number one school. I also haven’t heard back from a couple of schools that I would rather go to than any of the schools I have been accepted to.

My question is this, does anyone have any advice or feedback of being waitlisted and actually getting off of the waitlist and getting accepted? I would have to move out of state to go to the school I got accepted into and that program would start in May, where as the schools I would be more interested in going to start in September. I’m really at a loss for what to do and currently REALLY hoping I get off the waitlist somewhere before I have to start the program in May.

Is anyone else dealing with these less than ideal circumstances and can offer any ideas or feedback?

I’m in the exact same boat. I put a deposit on a school back in October but was waitlisted December and January on two other schools I’d prefer to go to (both for location and instate tuition). The school I’m in starts in June. Obviously I’m very thankful for the acceptance from this school and will be happy to attend it.

I just don’t know how long I should wait on the other waitlisted schools.

I was in the same boat as you (waitlisted at my number 1, accepted to schools I wasn’t excited about, waiting to hear from the middle schools). I ended up getting into my number 1 program off of the waitlist. I’d definitely recommend letting them know that they’re your top choice, it couldn’t hurt your chances.
Personally if I hadn’t gotten off of the waitlist, I believe I would have attended one of the programs that I was accepted to. Ultimately the things I didn’t like about it weren’t that important in the long run compared to not going to pt school at all/applying again next year. However every program is different, and I got one acceptance that I turned down because based off feedback I’d heard, I would be better off applying again than attending that program. Basically if you’re okay with your acceptance, if you could see yourself going there for 2-3 years just to get the degree, and if there is positive feedback from students there, I’d probably recommend doing that. A waitlist is no guarantee.

There is really nothing to do but sit and wait, unfortunately. I was wait listed and then got accepted to that program maybe 2-3 months later (I was not interested in that program by that time). Some schools may take you off the wait list at the very last moment (like less than a month before the program starts).
