Waitlist you most want to come off

Mount Sinai!!!! I'd do anything!!!!
Are all of you guys writing LOIs to these schools? are you finding it really difficult to remain well-spoken and not resort to begging?

i wrote one loi soon after i got the notification(i=interest not intent), and plan on writing one more that includes a couple minor updates just before waitlist movement commences

WVU - I'd give my right nut.

i am working on a letter of intent right now. i know waitlist movement isn't really gonna get too crazy for a while, but i figured since i just got the waitlist maybe writing rigth away would show lots of interest? except i'm having a lot of trouble forming the letter the way i want it.

I second you on Mayo.

Yea, Vandy has a ridiculous wait list. I think when I was there they said they wait list something like 700 people, and that the last two years they averaged pulling 30 people off their wait lists and giving them acceptances. That seems pretty ridiculous to me, considering their class size.

Wow, and here I was bummed Mayo put 100 of us on a waitlist for a class of 42 (10-15 traditionally get pulled from the waitlist), but now I'm feeling lucky after seeing what Vandy's waitlist is like. 😱

When do you think waitlist movement will get too crazy?

What motivates people to drop their acceptances? Finding out their financial aid packages? Or is there some deadline by which you have to pay a deposit?

May will be the month. As May 15th approaches and people have to drop all but one acceptance, waitlists start to move. Also, by then, I think most applicants that were accepted early on will have their fin aid packages back to help with the May 15th decision.

So, I figure the most movement will be May, probably extending into mid-June - with additional movement later on, but probably not as much.

By May 15th you're supposed to only be holding one spot. And deposits are no longer refundable after that. You can hold as many waitlists as you want, but only one acceptance at a time. So like, May 16th, spots will start moving drastically. Hopefully some people will drop a little bit before that when they see their aid packages.

is it appropriate to mention that you are holding other acceptances in a loi? do people use this as leverage?

USF for me.

And hey, does anyone want to start up a SDN Yahoo fantasy baseball league?

Arigato Accepted-sans, appreciate it. No one's had to explain the holding more then one rules to me (yet?)

i was debating that. On the one hand, they may think you don't need it as badly because you already have acceptance(s) and will be a doctor either way. On the other hand, they might see that you are still more interested in them and take that to mean a lot. I have no idea. I know that i have great options, but right now i'm so into sinai that none of them even seem like options. I will get over this mania eventually i'm sure, but right now it's quite a crazy feeling.

Case, Case, Case! They haven't published a waitlist yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm on it.

Anyone know what's going on up there?

University at Buffalo...i loved doing undergrad here and would like to stay

No one mentioned VCU yet. VCU!

Colorado

It blows my mind how much people think the admissions committees care. My letter of intent was one sentence. simple is better, they've got better things to do.

I doubt any school cares how much you "need" an acceptance. They aren't doing anybody any favors here.

Hopkins fo sho. I'd probably wet myself (very professional, I know).

University of Iowa, please please!

I would give up my firstborn to get off the Columbia waitlist

waitlist for emory but accepted at sinai already. not sure if its worth waiting it out...any opinions?

University of Louisville! They say that usually all of the top third of their alternate list makes it in eventually, so I'm hoping for that top third. I also hope that I get accepted before May 31 or June 13 since I am planning on re-taking the MCAT one of those days...

Keck - USC for me

I just want to stay close to home!

Univ. of Rochester...

If only I had something to offer.

WashU. It'll probably take a miracle for that to happen.

I know they don't have a waitlist, but RFU! It would be perfect for my fiance and me! Don't tease me with an interview and then leave me high-and-dry.😉

Miami @ Miami for me...to escape these never-ending midwest winters 🙄

Hopkins anyday.
Anyways, maybe I should stop hoping.:scared:

UConn UConn UConn....Go Huskies!

I'm pretty sure that I could figure out when people have to decide which school to attend, but I thought it likely that one of you all knew. when should we start to get nervous- or at least more nervous than usual?

Yeah, I figure if I haven't heard by mid-June my odds are slim to none that a waitlist is going to move and I will just have to write them off. I've perused some old waitlist threads from the last two years, and sure some people get off the list in late June or July, but those are some very lucky stragglers!

3 letters. N Y U. please please please please please

Right now, I have 2 waitlists and a third decision that could come as early as later today. The waitlisted schools are Creighton and UMDNJ-NJMS. UMDNJ-RWJMS is the only other school that a decision is pending. Of all the three I could take Creighton or RWJMS. Creighton is Jesuit and in the city of Omaha whereas RWJMS has the same feel as my undergrad college, Fairfield University. Creighton may be more clinician whereas RWJMS is more research. I think that I would not mind being at either school.

Stanford!!! Please show me some love...
