stony brook...
i am working on a letter of intent right now. i know waitlist movement isn't really gonna get too crazy for a while, but i figured since i just got the waitlist maybe writing rigth away would show lots of interest? except i'm having a lot of trouble forming the letter the way i want it.i wrote one loi soon after i got the notification(i=interest not intent), and plan on writing one more that includes a couple minor updates just before waitlist movement commences
mayo...
Yea, Vandy has a ridiculous wait list. I think when I was there they said they wait list something like 700 people, and that the last two years they averaged pulling 30 people off their wait lists and giving them acceptances. That seems pretty ridiculous to me, considering their class size.

When do you think waitlist movement will get too crazy?
What motivates people to drop their acceptances? Finding out their financial aid packages? Or is there some deadline by which you have to pay a deposit?
By May 15th you're supposed to only be holding one spot. And deposits are no longer refundable after that. You can hold as many waitlists as you want, but only one acceptance at a time. So like, May 16th, spots will start moving drastically. Hopefully some people will drop a little bit before that when they see their aid packages. When do you think waitlist movement will get too crazy?

May will be the month. As May 15th approaches and people have to drop all but one acceptance, waitlists start to move. Also, by then, I think most applicants that were accepted early on will have their fin aid packages back to help with the May 15th decision.
So, I figure the most movement will be May, probably extending into mid-June - with additional movement later on, but probably not as much.
i was debating that. On the one hand, they may think you don't need it as badly because you already have acceptance(s) and will be a doctor either way. On the other hand, they might see that you are still more interested in them and take that to mean a lot. I have no idea. I know that i have great options, but right now i'm so into sinai that none of them even seem like options. I will get over this mania eventually i'm sure, but right now it's quite a crazy feeling.is it appropriate to mention that you are holding other acceptances in a loi? do people use this as leverage?
left for vanderbilt
right for washu
no more no less
I second you on Mayo.

USF for me.
I have a spot for you if Miami @ Miami would give me an acceptance!
