Hey just wondering if anyone has been selected as an alternate at temple like myslef and what exactly all that means. Do you know if many alternates end up getting selected?

I'm confident that some alternates are eventually accepted, since I'm also confident that not everyone accepts the offer. Some students apply to multiple schools and are accepted at several, but obviously have to choose one, which opens up spots for alternates.

If you don't mind, I would like to know your GPA and MCAT's. Thanks and good luck.

Not necessarily. You may have just applied late and the class was full already?

That or only a few seats are left, and the schools are trying to pull in the highest GPA and MCAT possible - I'm thinking minimum 3.4gpa and 26 MCAT.

Contact the school and ask them what it will take to move to the top of the list or (different wording) ask them what it will take to improve your chances of acceptance. Would you be willing to retake the MCAT (and do you think you could do better if you did)? I don't know if it affects podiatry (heck, I don't even know if it accepts med school), but people sometimes write letters of intent to med schools indicating that they are your first choice.

Alternatively - when did you apply? Unless you have stellar extracurriculars your numbers are below the posted averages. Weaker candidates benefit from applying earlier in the cycle.

Please don't double post about the same subject...call admissions if you want the answer

Anyone here of alternates getting off of the waitlist? It is already June and we were supposed to find out by now. I want to call admissions but I have been bothering them too much lol

I interviewed early May and they told me that the earliest they'll know about spots is in mid July. I'm not sure if that applies to you since you interviewed a lot earlier than I did.

I got waitlisted at DMU, but I'm pretty sure its because I applied so late in the cycle. I have a 3.3 GPA and 25O MCAT, and pretty good extra currics. Sucks... haha. I do hope I get accepted though because it is my first choice.

I was interviewed at January because I attended the Winter Internship program, but this was before I sent my complete application. They sent me the letter saying I was an alternate in late May. Good luck to you!
