Waitlisters Come In and Vent, Kick, and Scream ;-)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
phillybabe: thanks for the info...how did you know the status of the nymed waitlist? where are you waitlisted?

thanks for the support phillybabe & guardian. i hope that you guys will hear from your schools soon too! let's all keep our fingers crossed. 🙂

Guardian,

I was wondering if you could tell us more about the letter you received from Tufts about the "unlikely pool." That seems to go against them saying that they don't rank their waitlist.

Thanks!

Good GOD!!! I can't take this anymore!!!

Cityivy- I hear you talking. I feel your pain. I'm waitlisted at Penn State and haven't heard a peep. I am contemplating going to DO school at NYCOM but am having trouble moving on because I keep hoping that I'll hear from Penn State. I'm almost ready to stop dreaming. Hang in there though. It seems that NYmed is moving along according to all the other posts.

Waitlisthopeful,

Guardian was referring to Temple when he said "unlikely." Tufts has not indicated anything to anyone on the waitlist regarding probabilities, but maybe we should do our own betting.

Ok, all wait-listers. I just got in at my top choice school Georgetown and I will be pulling myself off of all waitlists and acceptances as soon as that letter is in my hand (they called me) so here is what will be open:

1. Creighton (wait-list)
2. Univ. North Dakota (acceptance- turned them down 1 week ago right after I found out)
3. Albany Medical Coll. (acceptance)

Good luck everybody!!!

CityIvy what was your MCAT and GPA if you don't mind and where is your state of residance?

Waitlist hopeful-I was referring to Temple.

I had a false alarm last week when someone from SUNY Stonybrook called me for a job interview. I was so excited when they said SUNY and then I was confused by the Stonybrook. Come one SUNY Downstate, gimme the call!

Hey CityIvy
I too am on waitlist at NYMed. It sounds like there are a ton of people on it- do you know if they do actually send out post-interview rejections? Anyway, I do know someone who got accepted on the day before orientation last year, so don't give up hope. Hopefully it will start moving soon!!

Holla!

Gotta keep this post alive.....c'mon Tufts!

Anyone dropping an acceptance at UB to keep that waitlist moving? I don't mean to beg...but Please please please!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! What is taking NYMC so long??

Doooby doooby doooo 🙁 🙁 🙁

I just heard from a friend that she just got accepted to the Uniformed Services.... I guess it's not too late yet.... Keep screaming 😀

My good friend from college just found out he got off the waitlist from UCI...so don't lose hope!

Tiramisu,

where are you waitlisted?
Only 3 more weeks of waiting!!!ahhhhhhhhhhh!!

For all of you waitlisters, a story:

Once upon a time, a friend of mine was accepted to Emory but really wanted to go to UCSF as her boyfriend of several years lived there and she loved the school. She was on the waitlist for months and had given up hope of getting accepted. She sent in her deposit for Emory and got an apartment there and everything. Two weeks before class started at UCSF, she got the call that she had been pulled off of the waitlist and she is now attending this school. Don't give up hope! The End.

two weeks ehh? well some med schools will start in 3 weeks! definetly getting down to crunch time....

good luck everyone.

I agree, but it's not me who got in.... My friend did.... I've already told her about my views on military life or at least from what I've heard.... 😀

Well, i talked to tufts, they said they will try to review me this week, but no promises...keeps my hope alive for a little longer...

🙂 kicking NYMC for not moving their waitlist!

-Peter

I'm waiting to hear back from three schools...AARRRGGHHH! This is so frustrating.... 😡

Congrats to those of you who've been fortunate enough to get accepted off the waitlists!

NYMC, get your waitlist moving. One week left!

Hey everyone! I've been so tied up with this pre'matric program I have not been keeping up with the posts. But I thought I would write to say MCV-VCU called my old home number to tell me I was accepted. I am going to call them tomorrow and tell them no thanks... So all MCV waitlisters there is a spot opening up soon!

Good Luck

hey hamster,

where did you decide to go instead?

Hamster: When did they call you? I am on their waitlist as well and you just gave me hope that it might move.

Okay, check this out:

I got a call last week from a school I'm waitlisted at (by a secretary) asking me if I wanted to remain on the waitlist because some spots have opened up (I of course said yes). I haven't heard anything since. What the hell does this mean? Should I do anything else to show my interest at this point (I've already done alot), or just chill and hope for the best? I'm assuming the reason the school did this is because they have a ton of people on their "unranked" waitlist, and they want to reduce their workload in reviewing applications. what do you think?

I have been waiting on NYMed for 14 weeks and it is my last chance of getting in this fall!!! I've been told I had a great interview and am an excellent candidate...why tell me this without offering an acceptance ? (it really pours salt on the wound.) Urrrrrrrrrgggggggg. I had a dream last night that I was opening a big white envelope. Pathetic, huh? (sigh)

reese,

nymc is also my last chance this year. i've been waiting for this school since early february when i interviewed. when was your interview?

CityIvy,

April 11th. I totally feel your pain.

You guys think that's bad? I've been waiting for another school since early December!!

i decided to come in here to commiserate with all the others who are waiting for nymed to get it together. i don't have any acceptances anywhere, and i am only waitlisted at one other school. while i would actually prefer to go to the other school, i assume that it is very, very unlikely that i will get in. as a result, i am counting on nymed being my last hope. i can only imagine what it would be like to get THE PHONE CALL.
