Got the call today. This is my first acceptance and my top choice, so I'm pretty psyched.

i at really depends on what type of place you are looking for. Some people like to live close to the hospital so that they can walk to school, others like myself want to be a little farther away so that when we leave school we are actually not within sight of it. Sort of helps to get away from it all sometimes, not to mention you experience more of the town.

let me now what you are looking for ...

as far as making a trip here.. that really depends what type of place you are looking for ... and if you are looking to live by yourself etc.

I'm pretty set on Maryland, but I still like Wake a lot. If the Demon-Decons give me a good deal financially, then my wallet might have to renegotiate with my head.

Either way I'll decide next week. Don't want hold up a spot that someone else could have.

Third year at Wake here...

1. The wait list moves, a lot.
2. Live near the hospital, it's cheap and easy.
3. It's a good school, improving all the time...at least you'll get the pharm and micro that we didn't.
4. Have fun this summer. Don't study, there will be plenty of time for that.
5. Winston is a little dull.

Just an idea,

For any past/current Wake students who were accepted off the waitlist, do you mind posting your waitlist # (at it's highest)? I'm trying to figure out if people from the top 1/3 of the waitlist (waitlist being 300 people, so top 100 I guess) will eventually receive acceptances. I'm hoping there will be a good number of current acceptees AND waitlistees in front of me who eventually choose another school.

i called the admissions office at wake a week ago and asked about wait-list rankings. they don't rank anybody.

apf, thats what I thought. I am trying to keep my name at the top of the pile with e-mails every 2 weeks, but it doesn't seem to be working. no phone call for me 🙁 .

just some advice...
i was waitlisted last year.. i was accepted on May 31... people in my class were accepted right up until the week before school started so dont give up hope ..

now the advice.. the Waitlist is NOT RANKED.. so send letters... if wake is where you really want to be then tell them.. each time the committee meets they review all potential appilcants on the waitlist to give spots to.. so if your file all of a sudden has a new letter that you have written attached to it.. this might help ...

Hey, geek666. Have you written a letter of intent to Wake? My letters to Dr. Nelson didn't list any new accomplishments. They just restated my sincere desire to attend Wake, reasons I like the SOM, and why I think Wake and Winston-Salem are a good fit for me.

I'm a resident of North Carolina, which helped. But I really think that the letters made a HUGE difference in getting off the waitlist.

geek666, from talking with the admissions office, there is no limit on the number of letters that you send.

I've been accepted to Wake and will be attending in the fall. I interview on 1/29 and was put on the waitlist. I got my phone call on 5/23. They said my acceptance letter is in the mail.

For those of you at Wake Forest or familiar with the area, where would you recommend living. I have been doing extensive searching via the internet and have found some places that seem reasonable (thanks mgw519!) , but I don't know anything about the neighborhoods and how the apartments actally look (pictures can be deceiving!). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
