I got a job offer from Walgreens which I plan on accepting asap, but I just have a few questions regarding benefits:

  • I understand that there's been a switch to consolidate vacation days and sick days to PTO (paid time off). For someone with no company seniority, how much PTO do I get? Also, how does one gain PTO? How much PTO do I earn if I work 1 year, 2 years, 5 years, etc?
  • 401k profit sharing. From my understanding, Walgreens will match at least dollar for dollar up to 4% of your salary. Depending on how profitable they are, they may match slightly more. Is this correct? Does anyone know how much Walgreens has matched in the past few years?
  • As a floater pharmacist/ staff pharmacist/ RxM, how are raises determined? Is it a yearly increase? Based on seniority? Based on performance?
Sorry for all these questions. I'm in my mid-20s and this is my first "real" job so a lot of this is brand new to me.

PTO can actually vary depending on your location. Sorry I only know my bracket which is 5-14 yrs service: 4 wks per year. But you do accumulate the exact hourly amount of PTO on each paycheck.

Profit sharing match up to 2011 was around $3:$1 but only on the first 2% of your salary contributed.
In March 2012 they changed to $1:$1 guaranteed + additional based on profits on the first 4% of your salary contributed, which came out to total $1.15:$1.

Sorry, I don't work in the stores so I don't know how they do their raises.
