So, my first day as a floater is on Friday. Pretty nerve wrecking since I'm not quite sure how to open stores since it was never explained to me and my dumb butt forgot to ask during my training. I have a few questions and I would really appreciate some feedback so I don't go into the store like a complete idiot since I'm pretty sure I'm gonna come out looking like one anyways.
1. where do I get the keys or alarm codes to open the pharmacy? Or the keys for the c2 safe? Do I go to the store manager's office and obtain keys/ alarm access codes to the pharmacy?
2. Does the store manager activate my login for the register or is that something I can do myself? If i can do it myself, how would I do it?
3. Where would I get sims login and pw in case I need to order c2 or check in c2s? Or are floaters even allowed to order c2 for oos?

And please provide other valuable information that you as the pharmacist expect of the floaters coming to your store.

(not comments like don't **** up, but more specific!, so I really know how to not **** up)

Thank you so much!! God bless.

The manager on duty will give you the keys which usually come with the door code. Your register login can be obtained by going to Store net >Tools>next gen. From there follow the prompts. You will be considered a "borrowed" employee. Either you can do these steps or the manger on duty can do it for you. Don't worry about a sims login. As a floater you won't be ordering c2's.
Best of luck.

Thank you guys for the input!

Two more questions regarding the sims login; so as a floater if a c2 script is oos, I would leave it in oos and let the patient know it won't be in until after the staff pharmacist comes back to order it? (As opposed to me ordering it and having it come the next day?)

What about if a c2 order comes in and I have to post it with the telxon?

So confused..🙁

They'd add you to Sims to take in c2. Yes leave note for staff to order c2.

No reason not to order CII if you have a SIMs sign on. Just make sure you run it through Ceiling Limits Tool to make sure you can order before placing PDQ order

Oh so if the store manager provides me with the sims login, I can order as long as it's under the ceiling limit? I haven't seen how to check for ceiling limit but I'm guessing,,from abc passport it's pretty self explanatory, right? Sigh,,,,I hope I don't screw anything up. It's so nerve wrecking...

celing limit overrides are done in storenet under rx integrity

Thanks for asking! It wasn't that bad since it was a night shift. The technicians were so good that they helped me a lot and I had no real customer issues or 3rd party issues. Everything was working in my favor but still I was so nervous and anxious that I probably made a lot of mistakes. It was just non stop verifying....! And i saw that I couldn't post void or void any orders on POS. Do floaters not have this function?

Did you work as an intern at that store before? When I got licensed, the only store I didn't have post void power at was the stored I interned at, they had to change my code there.

I wasn't an intern. Hm..I'll just have to ask next time I go in! Thanks!!

Hey guys. This is probably a stupid question but how does one go about finding a floater position?

Apply to any job opening in retail 80% of the time is a floater position. Nowadays, They want to evaluate, float you many months and train you first before giving you a store. It's rare to get placed to a good permanent location unless it's BFE.

I have never had any success with applying on job posting sites especially in 2018. However, following the steps below have gotten me two offers this year:

1. Call a list of retail chain pharmacies within 50 miles radius of your home.

2. Ask to talk to the pharmacist / Pharmacy Manager or store Manager

3. Tell them you are a licensed pharmacist and you would like the district Managers email ( or phone number) in regards to job opportunities in the area.

4. Email the district managers. Try to sell yourself and attach your resume to the email as well.

5. If there is an opening the district manager would contact you back and maybe tell you apply and schedule you for an interview.

If there is nothing available in your area.

Move to another major metro area in the state and follow step 1 to 5 again. Mention that you are willing to move to take the job.

Good luck

I will never forget my first day as a newly-minted pharmacist. I came in only to learn that I am still coded as an intern in the system, so I had to find the pharmacy manager's phone, call her at home at 8am on Saturday, log in as her, change myself to a pharmacist and then dive right in and start verifying. To add to the fun of it, as someone who has worked for that chain for years prior to licensure, I got zero training - I was literally thrown in at the deep end and left to fend for myself. It was actually OK, as there was way less BS busywork and metrics back then.

You know whats really sad? This poor guy is reaching out to a public forum about opening HIS company store! and what i mean is this should have been thoroughly covered in training, especially since he is a "FLOATER" for gods sake. I bet they took him on for low hours, lower pay, less PTO, and just threw him to the wolves. These companies just dont care anymore. Im sorry bro, you shouldn't have to go through this.

I would rather come in myself than let a n00b pharmacist log in on my id... lolwat

Grad intern here, I basically got trained by the techs during my 10 day hire. Still haven't done much verifying or product review. I've been doing nothing but tech work. Training is basically self taught, ask questions if you don't know something and hope its not too busy for someone to take the time to teach you.

I'm super scared for my first day as a floater since I was told I'd get scheduled right away without any additional training after I'm licensed
