Ya so im calling walgreens for a transfer and been on hold for over an hour and a half. Doesnt wags have some meter thingy so being on hold makes the meter go down and look bad on the pharmacist? I know theyre busy, but damn, 1.5 hours and not even a tech picks up to pass me off to the rph?

Did your call end up in limbo?

Since Wal-Greens sells their own beer now, they should start their own band. You could play the entire soundtrack while on hold and then you can buy the CD with a transfer from another pharmacy.

Either that or a little bit of Coldplay or something for people to listen to for an hour.

There is a meter, and yes the hold times are monitored. The staff has been cut down to the point where there isn't much time for answering the phone if you want to get anything else done.

While staff, etc. is an issue, oftentimes if the phone just keeps ringing for more than 15 minutes or so, hang up, dial the store number and ask whomever picks up to park the call and page the pharmacy. I have had it happen where the pharmacy wasn't even aware that the calls weren't going through, they haven't heard anything.

When no one picks up the phone for 10 minutes or so - it's a staffing issue. If it's been an hour or more, it's usually a glitch.

The meter is just for answering the call. Doesn't have anything to do with keep ya on hold :meanie:

ahh ok. i will use your wise tips. ya i close before walgreens does anyway so i gave up. the longest one was about 2 hours and they did eventually answer so i dont think i got stuck in phone limbo

Sometimes it depends on how the pharmacy manager prioritizes tasks. If the work on the counter isn't getting done, then the phone probably won't get answered. But it all depends on what they care to worry about.

This is probably the phone glitch. If you are on hold for more than a set period of time, it will ring back to either the pharmacy or the store.
However, there is a glitch in the system. Sometimes, when a person dials in, our phones never ring. We never know about the call. It just ends up in limbo. We always tell our customers, if they have a long wait time to call back.
It could also be that the entire phone system is down.

why would you wait on the phone that long? at that point you are probably backing your own workload back an hour and a half. not sure if i can believe a 90 minute phone wait time anyways but you probably would have had a better chance of just calling the Dr for a new RX

You may not be aware of this but you can put a phone on speaker and continue to work while you are on hold. Its a new function so you might not be familar with it.

LOL, I was just thinking the same thing. It's funny how people didn't really think about the alternative, like put the call on speaker phone and lower the volume so they can continue working on something else until the call is handled.

The only thing I'm gonna wait two hours for is for my daughter to enter the world while I'm in labor. Otherwise, screw it.

LOL. I can't even wait that long. Planned C-section FTW!

(just kidding... it's medically necessary)

I did wait a couple of hours to see Harry Potter once (or twice). But there was plenty to occupy me, watching weirdos in costumes, eating popcorn, etc. I definitely couldn't hold the phone for two hours though!

When IRS or your state taxation department screws up, it can take a lot longer than 2 hours on hold. And you are stuck unless you want to bite their error of a few thousand dollars. Unfortunately. 😡

Black Friday is about the only time I have waited two consecutive hours for anything.

I waited for hours in the freezing cold one night for the Coach store on Black Friday. Another time my husband and I waited for several hours for Kohl's to open at 5AM. They were having a huge sale and the first 200 people in the door got a $30 gift card. Husband's coworkers kept coming by and giving him a hard time for dragging his pregnant wife out in the middle of the night. But I wanted to be there!

People who shop on black friday are dumb.......

Hmmmmm.... that's how we can weed out all the undesirables from pharmacy.

Question 1 on the NAPLEX should be:

Do you shop on black friday?
a) yes
b) no
c) hell no

If the student answers "a" they automically fail and cannot retake.

LOL. I love Black Friday, but not as much as my husband loves it. The only thing he doesn't love about Black Friday is the amount of money I can spend at Coach that day! This year I worked on Black Friday and it sucked, bad. 👎

Hate to tell you, but you are going into health care..........

Dunno what your specific plans are, but more they likely you will be working on black fridays.

I worked at an outlet mall ONCE on black friday. Never again.

Oh, I meant working at one of the "black friday" stores on that day is stupid. Plus it was a joke.

Glad you are faced with reality.

In all seriousness (hence my last post), I can't tell you the number of students, residents, new pharmacists I've dealt with that didn't realize that being a health care worker means different scheduling demands as opposed to a banker or teacher, gov't worker, etc, etc, etc.

Several "newbies" get blown away when they don't get the week between Christmas and New Year's off for example.

We don't?! We at least get 16 weeks in the summer off right? And one week in the spring?

Hey, I shop on Black Friday. Of course, I don't get up until 10am or so, and don't get to stores until after noon. By then the crowds and the lines are usually a lot less. And if I see a line in front of any given store (or inside, be it to the fitting rooms or the registers, if it is more than four or five people), I sure as hell don't wait in it. I leave it for the end of the day and may or may not come back to it later.

This year I got a very nice quartz and freshwater pearl necklace that goes with almost everything for 70% off. 👍

Coach always has enormous lines on Black Friday...

And that's one brand I absolutely refuse to buy because around here everyone and there dog has a Coach handbag. And they rarely have something I want to buy anyway. They built a really good business out of nothing, though, and built their brand value up very nicely, gotta give credit where credit is due. 🙂

My husband is currently on a Sun - Thur schedule but being in the shipping industry, he has ALWAYS worked on Black Friday until recently. He's so hardcore about shopping that day that he would get up at 4AM and do the Early Bird shopping and then go to work. Then more shopping after work.

I prefer to hop in line late on Thanksgiving night, go to the super early sales, grab breakfast and then sleep in, if I can. But like I said, last year I was in the pharmacy, not the mall. 🙁

It's one of my few obsessions. I like diamonds, Danskos and Coach. I bought myself a great Coach diaper bag for the new baby and can't wait to use it. My husband recently found the Eddie Bauer diaper bag we used for our daughter and said he's having his own diaper bag for when he takes our son places. I have to admit he'd look silly carrying the Coach. 🙂

A4MD and Industry..........

You two seem nice. Delusional, borderline psychotic, but in a pleasant way.

I'm going to let you in on a secret...................

With the internet, you can shop without having to go to the stores. Saves time and lowers your costs.

Going to the stores on black friday. FTL.

May I assume you are making the best satirical joke ever? I mean a Coach bag literally designed for s***? That's an awesomely insightful joke, right? Right?

ZOMG WUT? You can SHOP on the INTERNET!?! 😱😱😀

Seriously, I do prefer shopping online, in most situations. But there is something fun about Black Friday and hitting the sales. And I just like going to the Coach store. It's like a social event for me and my baby sister. A very expen$ive social event!

Sweetheart, you are friends with me on Facebook. Go there and you can find a picture of my husband and poodle with my beautiful Coach diaper bag. The poodle is INSIDE the bag. I will go bump up the picture so you can find it easier, lol. 😀

This.

Cyber Monday > Black Friday

It still works better as an awesome satirical joke.

Let me guess... you are a man? 🙄😀

The only things I buy online are books, music and videos. I would absolutely not buy anything I am going to actually wear without trying it on.

I will let you in on another secret. Many women don't have anything specific in mind when they go shopping. We just browse and see if anything strikes as as worth a closer look. 😉 I can remember three occasions in as many years when I went shopping with something specific in mind. Once it was a crockpot, the other time it was a pair of very particular looking jeans (and I tried on at least 50 pairs in about 20 stores that day before finding what I wanted that fit just right - bite that, Internet!), and once more it was a very particular pair of boots that I wasn't able to find anyway, but I found a different, very fun one. 🙂

and yes it really was 1.5-2 hours. i had them on speakerphone, but the thing was...the music they had playing was pretty jammin. so i didnt care, i was doing my work too

and i only shopped black friday once in my life. totally not worth it

I am glad to know that it could be a possible glitch in their system. I have waited several times 40 to 50 minutes for someone to pick up the phone at WG's but what I noticed is that if I call WG's and the automated voice says :"There's one caller ahead of you and you will be the next in line..." I normally hang up because it takes forever to get around to me.
