Walgreens Racial Profiling?

It's looks like it's just an arbitrary example they used. What's not true about it? If you send in a comment card and mark "asian" next to the demographic question and you are the only asian in the store, then the manager knows who sent it in by process of elimination.

I think you are overreacting.

how are you offended because the magazine mentioned that there are Asians who work for Walgreens?

would you have also been offended if the magazine had used "white male" as the example instead of "Asian male"? Would that statement have implied to you the sentiment that there are too many non white Walgreens employees?

Seriously, if you want to advance the Asian cause, donate some money to a poor Asian kid or something, instead of complaining about such trivial issues.

They should know better than to mess with you as you're probably some kind of crazy ninja assassin! Nun chuck your way up the chain!

You ask me how I am offended by what was written and it makes me want to slap the **** out of you for your ignorance.

Good god. Don't you have other, more pressing issues to deal with? Or is your life so easy that you have the time and effort to work up this much anger over a nonissue?

And before you start looking for crap to justify your righteous indignation, yes, I am a minority.

Possibly am over reacting, but why Asian and not some other arbitrary racial or ethnic group?
That's the definition of arbitrary. Why not Asian?

Imagine the outcry if they say "Black male" instead.

I doubt there would be one. And if there was I'd say the same thing.

Also, why couldn't they simply stick to the store positions? Why bring a racial group into the picture?

Why not? It's an example of a way a manager could decipher who filled out what on their comment card.

What's even worse in this situation is they pointed out Asian MALES.

Why is that worse than arbitrarily using some other group?

If you don't understand why this is a touchy subject, all you have to do is look to hollywood. Google the model minority myth and you'll invariably come across the problem of Asian males being portrayed a non-existent and Asian females as submissive sex objects and a host of other problems.

I would certainly agree, but what does that have to do with Walgreens? Does this example of a person whom may be easily pointed out via process of elimination have anything to do with an Asian stereotype?

WVU, are you a minority?
Yeah. And it's still very much socially acceptable to make fun of mine, too. In fact, it's been done on these very forums to my face. Nobody would dare tell an Asian that he must be good at math because he's Asian to his face. I've heard countless toothless, shoeless, inbred hick jokes directed at me. A person hears me talk and they instantly think I'm as dumb as Gomer Pyle. Personally, I don't mind it. It's a natural buffer that keeps the idiots out of West Virginia.

For the record, I think everyone on this thread should know what sort of person we're dealing with here. In addition to deleting practically every post, Doober sent me a PM through my profile; the full text is quoted below:
