Hi, just couple of questions about asking for transfer or becoming an floater. My pharmacy manager and I really don't get along and I feel like anything I do is not good enough. How can I request transfer to another store or another district. Another option I was thinking about is becoming an floater. Who do I need to talk to make that happen? Thanks

I was in similar situation when i was working at wags. I asked to transfer/float but dm refused. I had to leave. And now i am with cvs. Despite what people say i like it better.
I would play it nice and move to a nearby city and say that you want to transfer to a different district. You have to make up some thing. That is what i would have done had my rxm had not become a psychopath. I could not take it and had to leave with no job lined up

What is the issue between you guys? Unfortunately Walgreens doesn't transfer based on request but by openings. So if you let them know what area you want to move to and are a hard working pharmacist they will keep you in mind. Remember to always ask the dm during visits.

You can't really transfer stores as a pharmacist unless there is another opening already. Usually the DMs don't let you make lateral changes either unless there's certain circumstances. They want to see everyone move up and challenge themselves.

I guess you could request to step down to floater. I've had some pharmacy managers do that...and they're now staff elsewhere after floating for a while.

In order to transfer districts, you need a certain score on your performance review. If it isn't up to par, then you can't transfer districts.

Nah, transferring districts is up to the DM at the other district. He'll probably look at some evals from your rxm and try to get a good feel to see if you're a problem employee. If everything is okay and he has an opening...there's no reason why he wouldn't take you up. Obviously, DMs don't like to do this because he/she didn't actually interview you and is basically taking you on based on word of mouth and maybe some evals.

Talk with your DM and then possibly your scheduler afterward. I took a step down from being a pharmacy manager to a floater to start a business and now I make my own schedule. How did I do this? I emailed my DM and explained the situation to him and he told me he would make me a floater without a schedule (RXM to RPT). Now if I want to work I pick-up shifts through market scheduling, and if non are available in my district, I get the number for another district and talk with their scheduler.

Just relaying the information we were told. You need at least a 2.7 on your review in order to transfer districts, at least in my area that's the rule. Don't know if that's gospel for the rest of the company but that is what the DMs say when people mention it.

I would guess, like anything, it depends on how desparate the district is that the person is trying to transfer into. IE, a complete mess of a store, in a crime area, in a non-oversaturated state.....I have a feeling they would let anyone transfer in, regardless of performance score. On the other hand, trying to transfer into a major city that has several pharmacy schools in it...probably not going to happen.

Only thing you should need to study hard are pharmacy calculations- when you can do those in your sleep you will pass the exam- the other clinical info should be ingrained in your head from school.
