Hi guys, I need help deciding on whether to jump ship. @owlgrad

I've been a pharmacist at Wags for almost 1 year, interned for 2 years before that. Just got an offer at a LTC pharmacy.

Walgreens Pros:
Better pay
Better benefits (401k matching, insurance)
Closer to home (5 min drive)
Better schedule (either opening or closing shift)

Walgreens Cons:
Stand all day
Rude customers
Nonstop phone calls

LTC Pros:
Get to sit down
Closed door
Less stress

LTC Cons:
Further from home (45 min drive)
Worse schedule (swing shifts)
Worse pay
No 401K matching

My other fear is that I don't want to burn any bridges with Walgreens.

Thanks in advance for all the inputs and advice

If you enjoy retail, stay. If it was my option, I'd be at LTC so fast...but I'd still work at Wags per diem to make up a bit of the income difference.

Commute alone sold it for me. Better pay, benefits, and shifts are what EVERYONE wants. Standing while working is a plus too. This is the case where the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

Screw the ltc.

The right call would be to stay as a floater at Walgreens and take the long term care job. Since you make less at the LTC you should try to work 6 days and since you only been with Walgreens for 1 year I assume your loans are still owning you so I suggest you work the easy job and 1 extra day at the hard job. The issue with with the worse shift is temporary as when you get more seniority you will get out of swing shift. Also the long drive can be solved by moving closer to your location. The 401k part is simple, work more and contribute that extra wage into a roth IRA. I know as a Walgreens floater there are always openings due to sick calls etc, so sometimes if you can, work 7 days a week.
