when did you submit last cycle and to which schools?
what was the result of your interview?

Thanks for relying! I submitted my application last cycle in June without the DAT score. DAT was verified the last week of August 2024.

All schools but 1 rejected without interview near December. The school I interviewed with, was in January 2025 & I was formally given a rejection in April 2025. During the one-one feedback, I was told my DAT/ GPA was not a concern & I should up volunteering.

Here are the prior schools (was unsure how to select first application):

1. Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University
2. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry
3. Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University
4. James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina
5. East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine
6. Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Dental Medicine
7. Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry
8. University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine
9. University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine

ok, thanks
your issue last cycle was the late completion of your application and your school list being almost all publics
you took care of both of those issues this year, so now you have to wait on your dat scores
we cannot really say much about your chances without your new scores, but i do have concerns with the geographical spread of the schools you applied to...

May I ask for the concerns (being on the east coast)? Also, are there any ways to resolve them (add more schools)? I appreciate any advice. Thank you!

several schools are in NV, Utah, & Arizona
UNE is pretty far away from NC, Ohio, Missouri too
Thanks for the feedback.

By any chance, for the DAT, are you aware if schools will look at my original DAT or wait until my new score to consider me for an interview? I’m afraid to land in the reject pile before the new score comes in around August.

Thank you

if you marked that you are retaking, most, if not all schools will hold your app until the new scores come in...

I did not disclose a retake on my formal application. I was worried that it would delay my application similar to last cycle, as my new score would not be finalized until late August.

Considering the school that interviewed me did not suggest a DAT retake (their average DAT last cycle: 21), I believe my application does have a chance with my current metrics (for a few of these schools). Instead of notifying all schools of a retake, I may reach out to schools independently to request for them to put my application on hold (ex: far reach schools like UNC).

I apologize for the long response.

Schools are not obligated to wait for a future score. They certainly won't wait if you didn't signal that you have a pending score. Once your application is screened, new DAT scores will not force a re-evaluation. We just don't have the time for that.

Now, when you say "second reapplication," this is your third attempt, yes? Where did you improve from each previous cycle? Who interviewed you?

I agree your list is way too long and makes no regional sense, but probably a result of thinking "third time is the charm," so why not throw spaghetti against a wall to see what sticks.
