hello! i am a 23F california resident, graduated in 2023 from UC Davis. I took my physics classes and 2 other classes at a community college after graduation. Was rejected by Davis, Washington, Oregon, and interviewed but ultimately rejected from Western. Not sure which schools im applying to this year but I need some help with seeing possible options. Also considering hiring a mentor/consultant because I am really hoping to get accepted this cycle. Thanks for your help!

Personal Statment:
- Writing about how taking care of my dogs when they got sick and the compassion of the veterinarian reignited my passion to vet med. also want to add my growth over this year.

Hoping to find employment in a clinic before applications but until then I am volunteering at that clinic.

You need many more hours, and diverse hours, to be a competitive applicant, IMO. <300 hours is not enough time in this industry to know what you'll be getting into.

Your GPAs are fine, so spend a lot of time in different areas of vet med (as in, not just small animal practice) and then revisit applying, IMO. I think you're still pretty green in this field and you need more experience to see what the industry truly is.

Hi thank you for your reply! I really appreciate your opinion. I have recently accepted a full time job at an urgent care center for dogs and cats as a DA. By applications I believe I will have close to 600 hours. I am trying to volunteer at an equine clinic to have various types of experience. I hope this will help in my applications. Thank you once again for you input!
