  1. cGPA and sGPA: cGPA: 3.42 sGPA: 3.24
  2. MCAT: 504 (124/127/126/127) I took the MCAT prior to taking Biochemistry and Orgo II which is why I believe my Chem/Phys section struggled the way it did. I would consider a retake if the timeline works out okay, but I am looking for some feedback on that.
  3. State of residence: Florida
  4. Ethnicity and/or race: White male
  5. Undergraduate institution or category: FSU
  6. Clinical experience (volunteer and non-volunteer): Worked as a CNA on the covid unit for ~500 hours, was an EMT for 500+ hours in both NYC and FL, worked as an ER tech for 500+ hours in an ER, and have been a paramedic for 2000+ hours now and still counting in a rural county.
  7. Research experience and productivity: I did full time volunteer research for 6 months, totaling to about 1000 hours. I have one pub in Frontiers in Oncology as the 3rd author
  8. Shadowing experience and specialties represented: I've done around 50 hours of shadowing both an MD and DO in an ER setting. Looking to get more diverse shadowing in the next few months.
  9. Non-clinical volunteering: Around 10 hours at a food bank- definitely focused on getting these numbers up in the next few months.
  10. Other extracurricular activities (including athletics, military service, gap year activities, leadership, teaching, etc): Played a club sport for all 4 years of undergrad, and led my team to the National tournament as the captain my senior year.
  11. Relevant honors or awards: Nothing I can think of here..
  12. Anything else not listed: I have gotten my critical care paramedic and am looking to help start a community paramedic program in my rural county

You should apply to DO programs once you have over 150 hours of work at the food bank or a similar service orientation activity impacting others outside of a healthcare context. 10 hours will not move your application forward at most medical schools. Your GPA numbers also indicate a strong DO strategy plus in-state MD's if you have mission fit (which more service orientation hours will get you).

Increase your food bank hours to 150 before you apply. You are competitive for all DO schools with your stats and I suggest these:
LECOM-Bradenton
NOVA
BCOM (Florida campus)
ACOM
PCOM
NYITCOM
Touro-NY
UIWSOM
AZCOM
TUNCOM
KCU-COM
ATSU-KCOM
DMU-COM
MU-COM
CUSOM
VCOM (all schools)
WVSOM
For MD schools I suggest these:
Florida State
U Florida
Florida Atlantic
Florida International
Central Florida
NOVA MD
Belmont
Alice Walton
TCU
Eastern Virginia
Oakland Beaumont
Medical College Wisconsin
Rosalind Franklin
Albany
Ponce (St. Louis)
Methodist (when it opens)
Roseman (when it opens)

Absolutely agree, I appreicate the response and the verification of what I suspect I need to improve upon. Thank you! I plan to apply as early as possible with the improved volunteer hours in hopes of receiving as much love as possible.
