First time applicant looking for some feedback on my school list. Any input is appreciated!

  • CA ORM
  • cGPA: 3.56, AMCAS sGPA: 3.36, AACOMAS sGPA: 3.50
  • MCAT: 513 (127/130/126/130)
  • Undergrad at a top 5 public school, Class of 2020
  • Major in Nutritional Science, Minor in Ethnic Studies
  • Trilingual
  • Clinical Experience: 1500+ hours as a scribe/MA at a PCP's office,
  • Non-clinical Work Experience: 1000 hours as a cashier, 300 hours at a surgical cadaver lab of a med school, 150 hours as a TA for a ethnic studies class, 100+ hours as a private tutor
  • Volunteer Experience: 300+ at a local community health center, 200 hours between various on-campus orgs
  • Research Experience: 500 hours in a wet research lab, no pubs
  • Shadowing Experience: 25 hours at an IM DO office, 20 hours at a FM office
  • LORs: 2 science professors, 1 non-science, 1 MD
  • Interest in underserved
  • Interest in public health/MPH

Considering that I have ties to the region, would UC Davis still be considered a reach here?

I wouldn't call UC Davis a reach necessarily, it's at least more attainable than UCSF/UCLA. But your gpa is a bit low for a nutrition major and without knowing the overall arc of your application, it's hard to determine just how competitive you are. Definitely get a mix of out of state public schools in there too. Your school list actually looks pretty good

Yeah I realize UCSF and UCLA are long shots but I figured why not 😅. Appreciate the feedback!
