Extracurriculars:

Research experience:

- about 3 years (100 hours on research about social and emotional learning of underserved students) (700 hours of cancer research)

Publications?: No. I have a manuscript that has been submitted for review. I have 2 posters I presented at a national conference. Also have 1 abstract that was accepted at another conference that I did not present.

Clinical experience:

-500 hours as a medical assistant volunteer at a clinic in an underserved area
-300 hours as a paid medical assistant at a clinic in an underserved area
-150 hours as hospice volunteer

Physician shadowing: 100 hours - family medicine and internal medicine

Non-clinical volunteering + other activities:

-Meals on Wheels: 250 hours
-Mentor for high school students in underserved areas (200 hours)
-Intern for an organization that promotes helping the environment, going out to vote, and health (420 hours)
-Dog shelter volunteer (100 hours)
-Raised money to buy medical/hygiene supplies and create kits for Haiti. Parents were born there and immigrated here, and I still have family that go there often. I give them the medical supplies for whenever they travel there to give to people in need (started this in high school and continued this in college) (700 hours)

Congratulations on the 516. That makes your process a lot easier. If it weren't for state politics in Florida, you would probably be comfortable staying in-state (and you still should benefit from in-state tuition).

You should add the NYC and Boston schools since you know there is a large diaspora of Haitians and Dominicans there. The usual DC-to-BOSTON I-95 corridor should be considered. Atlanta also has a sizeable Haitian population.

Consider schools that run student asylum clinics (www.phrstudents.com).

ADDED: Connect with SNMA and any mentoring organizations supporting Black aspiring physicians.
