Date of submission: This June
Overall GPA: 3.54
Science GPA: 3.43
Bio-Chem-Physics GPA: 3.43

DAT score (include AA and all sections):
AA 450 (21.5)
TS 460 (22)
BIO 460 (22)
GCH 420 (19.5)
OCH 490 (24)
PAT 470 (22)
QR 420 (19)
RC 440 (22.5)

State of Residence: Utah
Undergrad Attended: BYU
Major: Biology
Minor: None
Minority? No
Reapplicant? No
Nontrad? No

Shadowing Experience: 140. General dentist, prosthodontist, and endodontist.
Volunteering Experience: 250+ (Food bank, refugee/homeless kit making, window washing, and hospice/vitals clinic). Not included in those hours, but lots of teaching English on a mission for my church.
Employment: Med Tech at an assisted living facility for the last two years (CNA for 2 months of that time). Worked at a golf course and for a brief time in door-to-door sales before that.
Research: Only 30 so far. I joined the lab this semester at the right time, so I could quickly get a publication.
Other Extracurriculars: Predental club at BYU.
Have you volunteered/shadowed/attended events at any dental schools? Have been to a few school presentations as part of BYU predental club put on by Roseman, Utah, and Louisville.
Relevant Honors or Awards: NA
LOR type and strength: One very strong from a general dentist I shadowed. One from a gen chem professor and one from a bio professor which should be pretty strong.
Misc Info/Things not stated elsewhere/Red Flags: Graduating this spring. Poor sophomore performance where I got a 2.99 gpa (C in Gen Chem 1, D- Gen Chem 2 later retaken for an A-, and a C in genetics). Strong upwards trend since then. 3.62 and 3.76 gpa in junior and senior years respectively.
School list:
Roseman, University of Utah, UNLV, Midwestern AZ, A.T Still, University of the Pacific, Loma Linda, Western, Cal Northstate, Louisville, OHSU, Colorado, UNE, Creighton, Midwestern Illinois, and LECOM so far. Any on this list that don't look good or some that I should add?

you have UNE twice
there are 2 AT Stills
why UNE?
why LECOM?
why mw-il?

Thanks for catching that. For A.T Still, I meant the one in Arizona. I put LECOM down as an option because they usually accept a comparatively high amount of students from my undergrad and I've also got a brother who lives in Florida. For UNE, I have a friend who just started there and really enjoys it. Along with that, I think their emphasis on rural/undeserved communities is something I would like to experience as both my parents/extended family come from a farming background. On top of that, I just think living in Maine would be fun. For MW-Ill, my reasons are pretty weak. Chicago would be a cool place to live. I know my my GPA is a little below average, so I'm likely going to have to apply to lots of privates.

Hi there.

I suspect the predental club had admissions presentations from the schools you put on your list. Did you participate in other recruitment events?

I'm also a little struck by the lack of other campus activities. I get the two-year mission requirement, but were you working to support yourself?

30 hours of research with a paper is luck, indeed. Unfortunately it doesn't help me as I tend to ignore or downplay activities with fewer than 50 hours (unless it is shadowing).

Nothing in this description is persuading me regarding an interview. Of course, I don't have your actual application, but if this is all you have, I hope you can present it meaningfully to admissions committees. Usually there are about 100+ BYU student/alumni applicants in every cycle, and you will likely have the same regional list (Utah, Roseman, Colorado, ATSU AZ, UNLV, Cal North, other California schools, LECOM (large class), NYU (also large class), etc.).

ok, got it
you get interview invites and acceptances by having mission fit with a program
you have to convince a school that you fit through your ECs and written statements in aadsas/secondaries
schools on the east coast/southeast/northeast are going to need to be convinced you would attend their school if they even extend an interview invite

has BYU predental club met with stan c from uop recently?
what did alex s from utah say about your application?
