cGPA: 3.65 (huge upward trend)
sGPA: 3.6
MCAT: 510
Major: Electrical and Biomedical Engineering
IL resident (grew up in Wisconsin)

Clinical experience:
  • EMT-B about 1.5K hours
Volunteering -
  • TA of signal processing class on campus about 200 hours
  • 1,500 hours with Special Olympics (athlete practices, running events)
  • Stop the bleed instructor - 250 hours
  • Engineering service trip
Shadowing -
  • 200 split IM, orthopedic surgery, oncology through hospital internship over two years
Research -
  • Two poster presentations about final summer internship research at major hospital system (one more about biomedical engineering and one about physician burn out).
  • Senior capstone project/study in biomedical engineering (600+ hours). Will be published (first author) and presented internationally (assuming it doesn't get canceled at the end of July)
  • Summer internship in government aerospace/defense, most of the research however is confidential
Misc -
  • On schools rugby team (compete against universities nearby - made nationals one year though)
  • Grandpa was engineering --> surgeon; engineering incorporated into medicine is obviously a highlight of my app
So, what do you guys think about my app's strength going into this cycle? Any advice? Stay safe out there.

Faha's list is spot-on. Connect with admissions recruiters at the AAMC Virtual Fair, and try to establish connections with current students and student services staff to know more about each school's curriculum, learning environment, and student support.
