I (22M) am applying for the first time this cycle. I graduated undergrad in Dec 2023 and have been working full time at a SA clinic since.
Applying to: NCSU (in-state), Auburn, UF, LSU, Tennesee

Degree: Biology BS + Chem minor

GPA: 3.82
sGPA: 3.75
Last 45: 3.77


Veterinary Experience:
1500+ hours at SA practice with holistic services
30 hours equine shadowing

Animal Experience:
300 hours at NC Zoo wildlife rehab center
400 hours equestrian/barn hand
500 hours petsitting
100 hours kennel tech
50 hours dog rescue volunteering

Research:
250 hours poison dart frog neurobiology research (3rd author publication in progress)
200 hours lab assistant in a CRISPR lab
100 hours cell biology research
100 hours organic chemistry research

Work Experience:
750 hours as a produce clerk at Wegmans
500 hours as a community outreach intern for a large church

Extracurriculars:
Theater, choir, football, and track in high school
4000+ hours Club Ice hockey throughout high school and college
150 hours as a supplemental Instructor for Molecular biology and genetics

Awards/Honors:
Theater Conference student director award in high school
Dean's list every eligible semester
Graduated with highest distinction

LORs:
Microbiology Professor I studied abroad with
Veterinarian/practice owner from SA clinic I work at
Another veterinarian from the same clinic

I feel ok about my app going into this cycle but am worried about my lack of diverse vet hours.

Would it be cool for you to have more diverse hours? Sure. Is it likely to ding you bad considering the rest of the app? Probably not.
