Misc Info/Things not stated elsewhere/Red Flags:
  • Obvs the GPA is not the best and the PAT/QR score is not good. I originally planned to take two gap years to complete my post bacc and get some more experiences but after taking my DAT (with the solid science sections), I decided to bite the bullet and see what my chances were.

School list:
  • UMD
  • Meharry
  • Howard
  • Tufts
  • Temple

Are you working with mentors who are part of SNDA, especially at the closest dental schools to you? Any letters from your postbac director or faculty? I presume you don't have your grades this semester that could help your GPA.

I've just started my post bacc this fall, so I don't have my grades. I have been building relationships with the post bacc directors and my professors but thought it was a bit too early to ask them, although obtaining a letter from them would strengthen my application.

The number one block to your application is your GPA, and by not showing you can improve your GPA through your postbac when you submitted your application is reason enough for schools to place your file on hold or reject. (It's like "anticipated hours"... it means nothing until we see grades.)

You can try to throw in an academic update letter to the schools on your list once you kill your exams and make straight A's at the conclusion of this term. Then we'll see what happens. A letter from your postbac director and professors may also be good to request for your hail-mary at this cycle or for a more solid reapp next cycle.
