(124 cars 🙁 but was told to just apply based on overall score) I took my mcat in 2023 fall so this is the last chance for me to apply with this score. planned for one gap year originally but was took most of it caring for family member (helped getting appts and taking to appt/tests for diagnosing, post-surgery and chemo care, and managing appts and meds) so now in second gap year. ORM as well. was in ESL for 1-2 years in elementary but born in US. should qualify for FAP based on family income suggestions

schools:
  • UVA
  • Cornell
  • Mount Sinai
  • Stanford
  • UMD
  • BostonU
  • Georgetown
  • George Washington
  • Eastern Virginia
  • VCU
  • Tufts
  • Cooper Medical
  • Emory
  • Rutgers
  • Albany
  • Drexel
  • Penn State
  • New York Medical College
this is a very rough list I made. i would like some more mid/lower tier MD schools to apply to so im very open to any suggestions / changes! I also highly prefer my state schools (for family reasons) in Maryland or in DC since I went to undergrad (Georgetown) there. second preference would be anything in the east coast closest to DMV area. idk if i want to needed to apply to DO

appreciate any advice 🙂

Rutgers and Cooper admit few non residents with no connection to the state. You could add these schools:
Vermont
UMass
Hofstra
Einstein (free tuition)
Hackensack
Temple
Jefferson
Pittsburgh
West Virginia
Wake Forest
USF Morsani
TCU
St. Louis
Western Michigan
Cincinnati

Does extended family that live in NJ count? Thank you for these schools will add!

Did you get FAP or not? How many cycles have you applied to previously? What were your results? If you are a reapplicant, you must include DO schools.

Extended family do not help you when it comes to IS status.

I just submitted it so I haven't gotten it back yet but based on income guidelines I should be receiving it. This is my first time applying.

Curious why you didn't apply for FAP before taking the MCAT so you could have additional resources.

What is your purpose as a physician, and describe your mission fit?
