Hello. So I unfortunately am going to have to reapply as I not only received no As from last cycle, I failed to get a single II. Below are the stats I applied with in the last cycle. I talked to an advisor and they said they believe my essays might have been a big cause for the no IIs. I am currently working on those heavily and getting them reviewed.

Finalized and submitted primary June 25th,
cGPA: 3.2
Post Bac GPA 3.93 (all science classes)
sGPA: 3.75 (post bac+undergrad)
Note: I know my cGPA is a bit low, but I am slightly hopeful that my improved performance in the post bac program is favorable.

MCAT:
1st attempt: 6/2019 121/125/125/126 (497)
2nd attempt: 9/2020 127/127/128/129 (511)

State of residency: CA (Post Bac in MA)
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Undergraduate institution: Irvine Valley College, UCSB
Post-Bac institution: Elms College

Clinical experience:
1. House Counselor at a psychiatric facility; Hours: 5407 (non-volunteer)
2. Cope Health Scholar Program; Hours: ~800 (Volunteer; I am also an admin coordinator in the program and this is a leadership position)
3. Covid 19 Vaccine Clinic: 80 hours
4. Head of First Aid at a summer camp (I have been told by some this doesn't count but others have said it does. Not sure if it does, but I do not mind it not counting as I already have lots of hours) Hours: 592 (non volunteer)

non-clinical experience (Non-clinical)
1.Volunteer tutor at Elms College; hours: 90 hours (volunteer)
2. TA for Genetics; 48 hours (non-volunteer)
3. Founder and president of Elms College Tutoring Club; hours: ~100 (volunteer)
4. Environmental Activist with Coast Keepers; Hours: 50 (this is current however and I will probably get lots more through the year)

Shadowing Experience
1. Family Medicine (MD)- 30 hours

Research Experience
1. Environmental Research with Coast Keepers; 100 hours

Other extracurricular activities
1. UCSB Rowing Team
2. UCSB Fencing Team

I think that it is mainly the cGPA, a 511 not necessarily being what it used to be, and no outstanding extracurriculars (for example if one has 100 hours of research I’m not even sure if it’s worth it to list at that point because it starts to look like boxchecking)

You should apply broadly to DO schools this cycle and I suggest these:
WESTERN
TUCOM-CA
TUNCOM
AZCOM
UIWSOM
KCU-COM
ATSU-KCOM
DMU-COM
MU-COM
PCOM
LECOM
NYITCOM
Touro-NY
CUSOM
For MD schools I suggest these:
Vermont
Quinnipiac
Albany
New York Medical College
Hackensack
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
Penn State
George Washington
Virginia Commonwealth
Eastern Virginia
Wake Forest
NOVA MD
Tulane
TCU-UNT
Creighton
Loyola
Rush
Medical College Wisconsin
Oakland Beaumont
Wayne State
California University
UC Davis
UC Irvine
UC Riverside (if you are from that region)
Any new private schools that begin accepting applications later this year (potentially 2 in CA, one in Arkansas, one in Tennessee)

If it makes any difference the cgpa was from undergrad and I graduated in 2014. Post Bac was completed 2019. As for the research, I thought it was a more unique research so I felt listing it was not bad and I felt something was better than nothing. This cycle I will be adding some things I did more recently so I will have to cut one or two old things. It was suggested I cut discussing my TA experience.

Thank you for the school list I will for sure use this.

I’m confused with your GPAs. Did you apply with the same GPAs you will apply with this upcoming cycle?. When I initially read your post I thought oh he’s right. His post bacc will make a difference and then further down you mention the post bacc was from 2019. So I’m not sure how the post bacc will impact anything this cycle, unless this is the first time you are mentioning it.
FYI- be aware that some schools average multiple MCATs. We don’t which ones do but both of your scores are visible to anyone who reviews your application. So that 497 is always there.
I’m trying to figure out your ECs. It almost seems that you wrote down everything you did in college and beyond and then tried to find a place to fit them in the best spot. There is no theme that I can see. You probably have one, (hopefully), so you need to flesh out that theme of how all of these activities got you to the point of filling out a med school application. Why medicine? What experience solidified your thoughts and dreams?
Good luck as you apply again. Hopefully with a little buffing your results will be better.

Yes, my GPA will not change between cycles. I graduated in 2014 so completed my undergraduate program then. I completed my Post Bac program in 2019. The 2 grades are seperate. I meant I hope my post bacc will make a difference in general, not just make a difference in the upcoming cycle. Apologies for the confusion.
For ECs, I did a lot of things in education as it is something I am passionate about. I also equate teaching and medicine together as physicians act as not only healers but teachers (in my opinion). I was able to equate them to medicine per say but I have been told my essays are "not the best" about getting my point about medicine across and I am hopeful that they are the main reason for my poor performance as those are easily fixable (compared to having to say spend a ton of time trying to get more requirements). I also did take someones advice and have reached out to schools about what I can improve upon my app as I am interested in their programs and plan on reapplying.
