Hey everyone, I just wanted to ask about what my chances are for the next cycle. So far, I have received no II, and 1 R. I applied to all Texas medical schools (TX Resident, TMDSAS +TCU). I am planning on a reapplication + gap year.
My overall GPA is a 3.5, sGPA is a 3.4 (on the lower end, I know, I ended up retaking a class I failed to obtain an A). ORM Asian Female, MCAT is a 510 (128, 126, 127, 129). I am a Neuro major from a T20 school. I have around 2,000 research hours in two different labs, resulting in three different projects, 750 clinical hours (volunteering, shadowing, clinical research, EMT), and 300 volunteer hours (food bank, teaching). 4th Q Casper.
I have two scientific research awards, 4 conference posters, two publications with another one in progress.
What would you recommend I do during my gap year to strengthen my application? Additionally, does anyone have ideas on how to strengthen my school list? I would be fine with going DO. My choices are either pursue a masters (I would have to take loans for this) or retake the MCAT.

Fill out a template.

I hope you will hear from a TMDSAS school in the next 3 months. I think the mismatch of a lot of research with a slightly lower GPA may be what is stalling you this year, but you could still get some MD interviews.
If this cycle is not successful, I would say keep something going in your clinical or volunteer areas until you reapply and then applying to TMDSAS + AACOMAS next time.
Another masters, I don't think will help
